I've finally gotten through by going to www.me.com, it doesn't redirect anymore.

I was able to sign up for the free trial but that's as far as I can get. It won't log me in, saying my username is invalid.

I got the Welcome email, and the images in the email are not loading either.

So it seems like they're making progress but it's not done yet.

And why do Canadians have to pay $10 more. What happened to the dollar parity (or close to it)?

    pc: Wait...stop right there...Problems?

mac: Yeah, a few kinks to (cut off)

    pc: hah...hahaha.....HAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

    mac: ....pc...that's not very nice....

    pc: HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAHAHAHA

    mac: .....pc?

    pc: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

mac: (sad look on face as camera fades out)

    Just teasing!

    Comeon Apple...get it in gear!

The website is down again, but now the Pref Pane is working. I was never actually able to successfully login before, although Status just says "error". I am syncing now.

I received the .Mac Team email. My desktop client still works. Lo, it has been a long day at the grist mill without being able to sync mine iDisk, but somehow we toil on.

I realize, for some, that even a moment of downtime can accrue losses that could be financially, emotionally, educationally, spiritually or gastronomically decimating. I sympathize with you, I truly do. I understand that it may be causing you to underline words in an effort to lend them more gravitas. I hope your pain draws to a close soon.

For the rest of us, just lie back and think of England. We'll be computing in THE CLOUD soon enough.

It was not a serious calculation, I just multiplied Solsun's 14 cents times all my students who depend on my website. Just expressing that my frustration was rooted in something other than the desire to play with new toys. I am at a loss to understand your reference to underlining . . . I didn't use it or any other device for emphasis in either of my posts . . . ?

And with 300 students using the .mac service, at least one of them should have visited the homepage and seen the notice that service would be down..

I was not one of those complaining about lack of notification--I got the email and made a note of it. Even sent a warning to my students telling them our class website would not be accessible between the hours of 6pm and midnight. Now, here I sit almost 24 hours after what I was told would be the end of the window, and still have no service. You'd think a follow up notice would have been giving an estimate of when it might be up and running again. That was my only point really. The refund stuff was just hyperbole. But, you bit.

Oh if you even find someone willing to give you that kind of INSANE level of 100% GUARANTEED UPTIME (including acts of God) then you'll be paying a HECK of alot more than .27 a day.

    Dave

Actually, I have been using it to host my class websites since its inception and have never been aware of an interruption. There must have been, but it never was long enough to have caused any problems for us. .Mac/me is for me; it's been great.

mac: Yeah, a few kinks to work out because MobileMe is for both Mac and you PC. We are having some problems inter-grading you into it.

The scary part is Apple is becoming more like microsoft (consumers) and dumping on the PRO user (less than 1% of marketshare now (PRO USERS), thus the drop of COMPUTERS from the name, then MAC from the SPECIALISTS (store) and MM looks more like a windows app. Now tie that in to more windows users by iPhones than mac users = more windows users with OSX than ever = more windows like apps = I knew from the moment I saw the logo, to miss the big picture is a personal snafu- apple is becoming more like msft every day and at the same time ignoring the PRO USER base.

I have to agree. With the market share gains, Apple is losing some of the aspects that made me breathe for it. I don't want to transform from an "elite pro Mac user" to a one-in-the-crowd, "better-looking-windows" civilist. Think, you can't be different, when you're for everybody.

me.com is up again....actually pretty snappy. Just signed up for a free trial. Accessing the account now. Those that previously had .mac accounts should try it out and see if everything works.

I was actually optimistic that time. It was running great....long enough for me to create an account and navigate around quite a bit.

Still up at the moment, I have MobileMe prefpane installed and push syncing to my 2G iPhone - all good, *except* my iPhone used to sync all the calendar I had in iCal including my subscribed ones (i.e. all my family's ones), and now using push, it only shows *my* calendars and not any of the subscribed ones.

Since they're all .mac/me.com ones I was rather hoping they'd also push to it, or something. Or at the least they'd refresh, or you know... exist.

Anyone seen how to make this work, or a workaround? Otherwise I think calendars will need to go back to tethered syncing, for me at least.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

"MobileMe web applications not yet available.

The MobileMe transition is underway but is taking longer than expected. While core services such as desktop mail, iDisk and sync are available, the new MobileMe web applications are not yet online. Thank you for your patience as we complete the upgrade."

Why can't Apple adopt the iPhone logic of having one button to return to the home screen where you can select your app?! It looks very static at the moment. Encaged.

The intro screen suggests alotof playability. Alas, it isn't The big icons are spot on, but what follows is very unApple like: an obscured power switch to log out, your iDisk as the default second screen

C'mon Apple you can do better. And - please - get rid of the depressing shades of grey and black It's not professional, it only shows that you lack confidence and vision in applying colours.

    have a look at www.me.com

Only 21 days left, but I am not going to renew my account. I like the way I can check and send my Google mail within Apple mail. And if I'm on the road, I only have to check my online Google mail account

Well, as of 7:15 AM EST, I've finally gotten MobileMe web apps working for me. Like others have stated, it's a bit sluggish right now...almost like it's caching your information because when you return the next time, it's much faster.

Everything looks and works great. The drag & drop for calendars does as it should. Mail features are nice like the Quick Reply. Haven't really delved into the Web Gallery to see how it does but my pictures are there from the previous set up.

It would seem that my syncs are still working because changes I made to Address Book contacts since the .Mac blackout are showing up in MobileMe; likewise with iCal events. Still, I don't have the MobileMe package showing up on my Mac for installing and of course, there is no iPhone 2.0 upgrade either to get that aspect going on my iPhone 2G.

Still, I do now have access to MobileMe here in little ol' South Carolina!
