Old bundled X apps- Sketch.app, Music Player

I was wondering if there was anywhere I could download some of the apps which used to be bundled with the X Betas.

There were a few which come to mind- Sketch.app, Music Player (this was before iTunes came out...) and Bomb.app (which would self destruct, crashing itself)

I'd love to get a hold on these apps. If anyone has them, could they upload them to the public folder on their iDisk perhaps? Or email them to me at [email protected] . Thanks a lot!

I have them for reference, but they do not work with and current OSX releases because they link to old frameworks that were changed before OSX went GM.

    Sorry.

By the way, the Bomb.app and Sketch.app are included with source code in the free Developer Tools.

How does two out of three sound?

Sketch is also in the Dev tools. All you have to do is compile it. (just a matter of opening the project and hitting the build icon.)

I'm glad to hear they are available on the Developer CD. I just tried to install it, though it told me that I don't have enough space available on my hard drive. I have 255 megabytes of HD free, but I guess that's not enough.

I'm ashamed to say that a huge part of what I want is just the icons for these apps. The icon for Sketch.app was great- apple makes wonderful OS X icons.

Do you think someone could email me the apps or the icons?

    Thanks!

I like MusicPlayer. it was a nifty little app that efficiently used space and looked cool.

iTunes is better but I wish you could use a "Music Player" skin on iTunes

Yeah, having a Music Player skin would be great. I loved the size of the app.

Music Player would be great because sometimes I want to play a MP3 I have located using the finder. If it opens in iTunes, it gets added to the database yet again, creating a larger database. I have a firewire hard drive which is only sometimes connected to my powerbook, so it makes perfect sense. I love the look of Music Player.

Does anyone have it? Does it still function under 10.1?

It didn't work under 10.0 either.

I still have it, though, if you want it. Just e-mail me.

I did, however, read reports after 10.0 went GM about some people symlinking around new frameworks and copying old frameworks from the Public Beta into the 10.0 System/Library to get the PB apps to work. That included Music Player, HTMLEdit, and others. So much more has changed since then, though, that I really don't think if it'd be possible today.

Yeah you did, but then after he asked if they functioned in 10.1 so I said no.

I'd like to know what happened to HTMLEdit, I thought that looked like a cool enough PageSpinner-killer..

We need PDFCompositor. Even though it didn't really have a purpose, it was pretty cool.

IF you miss sketch.app you should get OmniGrafel it dose every thing sketch.app did times 1,000. The 2.0 beta is awsom also!

As a note for those who don't use column view, column view lets you preview mp3s (ie, play them) from the finder. This prevents them from being added to iTunes' library and negates the need for an archaic program to play them.

Each window can play it's own mp3 so you can make some spiffy music mixes from the Finder
