Swapping your swap to another partition on the same drive won't make much difference; it's still accessing the same drive. Moving it to a different drive, however...

MacJanitor has made my iMac 400 DV And my 733 G4 much snappier. Once a week I run the daily/weekly routines. Once a month I run the monthly. While some say it make no difference (and keeping in mind my macs are off when I'm not using them) it works for me. Far fewer KPs too.

    My 2 cents worth.

Actually, 2 tips that worked for me (on my dual gig) are

Use generic folder icons whereever possible, this speeds up contexual menus in the dock nicely when scanning a drive.

I got Duality and got a Aqua theme that had opaque menus and windows so there were no transparencies. Now the menus are just as fast as in 9.

I too was really surprised at the difference it made getting rid of transparency with a theme installed through Duality.

    From the first link

Disable font smoothing via a program called "Tinkertool". Font smoothing takes out the "snap" from Mac OS 9. It does this greatly to Mac OS X too. You have to first REPLACE the Arial and Times New Roman fonts in Mac OS X with the updated versions from Microsoft.com.

    WTF!!!

Yes, those two fonts were corrupt when Microsoft first gave them to Apple to distribute. They work in many cases, but cause ugly ugly problems in others. You should replace them from MS's web site immediately.
