Terminal help...

Is there ANY site out there that focuses on how to actually USE the Terminal? I like it but I can never find ANY site that describes how to use it without talking in MONDO UNIX nerd language.... All I want is a Mac Poweruser/OS X newbie manual for the Terminal...

Is there such a thing?

I don't understand what you are asking for. The Terminal is the doorway to the UNIX world of Mac OS X. If you don't want to learn UNIX, you're not going to be able to use the Terminal.

I'm perfectly willing to learn UNIX... it's LEARNING it that I'm asking help for... Every tutorial I run accross helps a little but they all expect a working knowledge of UNIX... which I don't really have... I'm asking if anyone knows of a BEGINNERS manual of sorts for the Terminal and/or UNIX.

Have you tried this: <a href="http://homepage.mac.com/rgriff/files/TerminalBasics.pdf?"; target="_blank">http://homepage.mac.com/rgriff/files/TerminalBasics.pdf</a>? I haven't looked at it, but macosxhints.com is always a good place to start.

If you would like to go the book route I would suggest this O'Reilly book. I got quite a bit out of it. It is great for a UNIX "newbie"

After reading that you could then probably move up to this...

A topic that I started sometime ago about your same question that says [sarcasm] if your lazy you cant learn unix [/sarcasm] and if you want to have the full power of unix and be able to learn it right you should invest in another computer. The best thing I can tell you is just to dive right in and learn as you go along, seems to work for me
