This is one fast browser. The rendering might not be as fast as Mozilla, but the UI responsiveness is definitely OS9esque. There are still a few bugs here and there, but all in all a pretty nice browser. How come nobody mentions it?
Probably because it's a comfort zone thing...as soon as I start getting used to Opera I find it doesn't do well on a particular site and I have to go back to IE. Forms can get screwed up in some versions of Opera. I still support it though.
About a year ago it was seen as the future IE killer. Then OmniWeb took that place and now its just one of many real alternatives. Right now I´m using Chimera, OmniWeb, Opera, iCab, Mozilla, Netscape and IE under X. Really soon I will only allow Cocoa browsers and unless IE is going Cocoa MS might actually loose the browser war on X. I wish Apple would buy OmniWeb, make it a finished product and make it the default browser when the MS/Apple deal ends.
i use omniweb now and i use IE for things that omniweb can't handle. i like it, but it's still missing a few things. it needs a few more plug-ins, have a pull down menu when you press the back button, and better speed going back and forth using the back and forward buttons. it really snappy in opera

Actually, i have noticed in the SneakyPeeks they have started getting the back button to be snappy. 4.1 final should be a drastic improvement. I use Opera on windows, but it is not good enough on the mac yet....

Just look at how they ruined SoundJam and how long it took them to return some of its basic functionality. There are still bits of SoundJam missing (namely, the streamer and possibly skins) that I wish iTunes had.

The latest sneaky peek versions of OmniWeb have a little triangle to the bottom right of the back arrow that when depressed provides a pull down menu of most recent sites visited.

I've tried Opera. It's so freaking boring. You sit there in a pernguin suit listening to the fat lady sing and you have no idea what the hell she's saying, which is probably nothing, since how can you learn anything when you weigh a freaking 4-tons! but you do it anyway just so your woman (women ) will smoke your sausage later ...
I just downloaded Opera for OS X a few mintues ago. It seems to be slightly slower than both Mozilla and Omniweb to me. But it's just okay. Nothing to write home about and certainly not worth paying for to get rid of those ads that will pop up after 30 days.
All in all, not too bad. I still like Omniweb and Mozilla better. I'm waiting for Chimera to "become"... that thing will kick some butt.
