LaFontaine, known as the "King of Voiceovers," died Monday afternoon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. LaFontaine's agent, Vanessa Gilbert, tells ET that he passed away following complications from Pneumothorax, the presence of air or gas in the pleural cavity, the result of a collapsed lung. The official cause of death has not yet been released.

What a bummer.

    "One man......."

He'll be missed. Although the trailer business has been changing, becoming less reliant on V.O. and more about high speed cutting and taiko drums-- with, of course, that beat of silence before the title fly-in crushes the screen amidst discordant shrieking and sub-bass intimations of the apocalypse.

It's really interesting to watch trailers from even a few years ago and see how strangely becalmed they seem. Just some scenes from the movie with relatively low key descriptions of the plot.

I always like "In a world ..." because it meant the movie was sci fi or fantasy.

Plus you can hook them together, "In a world where one man stands alone against all odds ..."

68 is too young. I'll miss his voice.
