And hey, are you going to post your thoughts in your thread or what?
I've been reading it...I've been reading it! I work long hours and by the time I get home my mind is all tired and screwed up to even think straight.
But I have been scouring the net trying to find a morsel of a clue to help figure out what the brick might be. I'll let you know the second I find something thats chewable.
But dang nabbit! Steve Jobs has actually stumped me on this! Well, I can tell you what I think its not..
Its not a netbook. (ya really think Steve is gonna try to sink the macbook air?)
Its not the mac mini. (he is going to save the update for it at MacWorld)
its not a power brick (for da luv of gawd pleaseeee!)
No its not a brick oven! (*sigh*)
This thread is just warming up. We have a couple more weeks I estimate till Kevin Rose's Apple spy starts taking spy shots of the "brick". Either that, or we'll be reading a headline soon saying a former Apple employee commits suicide under suspicious circumstances. \
I'm gonna take a guess and say that there will not be a 'one more thing' this time.
I can sleep in peace.
And if I'm wrong, I'm more than happy about that.
No, there WILL be a "one more thing" at this event. Its probably a minor "one more thing" in the grand scheme of Apple's planned product rollout for the next 12 months. But there will be something.
And NO, you will NOT be sleeping in peace! You will NOT have a good nights rest. You WILL be tossing and turning wondering in your dreams what that blasted "brick" might be!
It's Pippin reborn as a Home Lifestyle Server (games, iTunes, etc)...aTV and Mini RIP.
BluRay, HDMI, 802.11N, FW400, BT keyboard, mouse and gamepads. Mini price tag. aTV rental and appStore like functionality for an indie app ecosystem (now that the number of objective-C programmers is far bigger than it was a few months ago).
Of course, Brick may have zero to do with form factor...
It looks like it might actually be a new Mighty Mouse. Here's the patent application they filed:

I could see that coming in handy for some things but the bandwidth is a limiting factor. For device sharing without using a network or remote video display for maybe laptop presentations, it would be useful.
It's likely to be something insignificant if it's a 'one more thing'. A revolutionary design isn't likely to be relegated to that space.
The "Brick" is a wireless power transmitter/recharger for portables.
OMG! I think you might be on to something. Somehow that fits with theme of the event which is macbooks plus I've seen stuff about Apple patenting a method for wirelessly powering devices.
You just might be on to something there iPeon.
Then again, that ibrick patent drawing with the mutilated hand actually looks like some existing Apple patent drawings.

The brick is as big as your imagination.
The brick is as big as your imagination.
Actually, the brick is quite small...
This isn't looking good...
So you have a tiny imagination?
This isn't looking good...
Yeah you got me. It's TINY!

No no, I have bigger priorities that will take my thoughts.
Like figuring out how I'm going to pay for all the games that come out in October.
