So we've already got a GPS chip in the iphone. So, next year when Google starts their satellite phone service we'll be ready. And we can use the Nike + Ipod sensors with this new map app. Very cool!!!
Dammit. I would have paid another $100-150 for my touch if Apple had included a real functional GPS in it. Still not getting the iPhone until others carry it.
I just bought one of these for my fist gen iPhone. Might be usefull for those of you with a first gen phone or a ipod touch.
How can you say you bought one when it is pre-order vaporware? That company doesn't have a track record with any released products yet, so it's too early to get excited.

Well I sent them money and at some point expect to receive my product. If you follow his blog you can see every step of the development process. http://iphone-gps.blogspot.com/ If this is a scam or vaporware then he is a very impressive crook.\\
I forgot to mention that I signed up on the waiting list about two months ago.
Honestly, I don't see how this gadget would work. The iPhone SDK specifically limits the accessing of the Dock connector, so official third party applications could not use it. The built in Maps application will not use it. I suppose a jailbreak application could work with it, if you're into using those.

My phone is jailbroken but has no other mods. I will let you know how it works.
Right. When I'm somewhere I don't go often. Maybe abroad. Like vacation for example.
That's the problem. If here in Europe I take my iPhone to another country, I have to pay horrendous fees due to the fact that I'm not using the provider I am signed up to but one of his 'partners'.
That means I end up paying something like over 10$ per megabyte of data.
Under theses circumstances it is not really interesting to work with online maps.
This is why we need a GPS that has it's data on the iPhone.

Where do I need a GPS?

The Pwnage team has broken the through the 3G baseband this past week, so hopefully it won't be too much longer before the iPhone is unlocked.
