Help!: .term files

This seems like a good idea but no matter what I try I can't get it to work:

<a href="http://www.resexcellence.com/hack_html_02/05-15-02.shtml"; target="_blank">Article about .term files at ResExcellence

Even if I just take the .plist and rename it without modifying it at all, I get nothing when I select it from the "Library" menu.

Anyone else able to get .term files working properly?

yeah they work great for me...

I think I made it work best by using the inspector to configure a window how I wanted it in the Terminal, then used the save .term file feature of the File menu to save the .term file.

I made several this way, then ducked out and into the plist to set the transparency on those that it was appropriate for...

then I made a folder in AppSupport in ~/Library called Terminal and stuck those files in it.

    Works like a charm.

    Hey, thanks for responding.

Funny, about 20 minutes after I posted this, I figured it out. Did just what you say you do and it works great.

That tutorial at ResExcellence is a bit twisted. It's like the guy goes around the corner just to get next door. It's much easier to just save the current terminal and edit the saved file.

Though I notice that if you don't already have a ~/Library/Application Support/Terminal folder that it won't make one for you. You need to put the files in that folder in order for you to be able to access the .terms in File:Library.

Yeah I know... some of those instructional things at ResExcellence need to be cleaned up a lot. I haven't checked for sure, but I believe there are probably a few instructions in that heap of hacks that cause some problems in more recent versions of OS X.

A whole bunch of those just plain don't work now in the current revision, and should be removed or at least edited to reflect such.

I like ResExcellence, but I haven't seen any of their content besides desktops and icons change recently. I would love some new Poofs and Clocks. Almost anxious enough to make my own and submit them! (that starburst poof is dank though...really sweet looking when installed)

P.S. thought I had mentioned creating the Terminal folder in AppSupport, but maybe it slipped my mind. Don't forget you can always toss that folder in /Library/Application Support/ instead of /Users/[schlock]/Library/Application Support/ if you want all your users to get the .terms from Terminal. (may be elementary suggestion depending upon your UN*X milage)
