it would be interesting to apply the poof effect to the actual icon being 'poofed'. The pixelated effect would then pixelate out the icon of whatever you're removing from the dock. Would be kind of cool actually
The only way it is going to get better for me is if Apple makes something happen to the icon itself, not just play the same animation over and over again...
That pixelate effect would go extremely well with the rest of my stuff...

To keep in the "Aqua" theme... I'd love (even though it's superfluous and processor intensive) to see the icon do a combination dissolve and "pond ripple" as if it just "sinks" into the desktop. That'd be kinda neat, eh...?
Do you remember the old version of the game show "Press Your Luck"? (a new version is currently on the air). If so, then do you remember the little animations that appeared when a contestant unfortuantely selected a '"Whammy"? Those were hilarious, IMO, and I'd love to see them become poofs.

When removing something from a dock, the poof is too cartoony. Why not have something slick?
Any ideas?

Yup. try going over to resexcellence.com and looking over their replacement poofs. They have graphics and instruction on how to change them.

Oh well...
