    [quote]This type of guerrilla marketing does make sense... cheap, self-propagating, generates buzz, etc.

    <snip>

    How's that for a fun conspiracy theory?<hr></blockquote>

    Well, it makes about as much sense as the numerological approach to interpreting the teaser lines at apple.com.

    Let's apply occam's razor here, shall we? You may dispute the authenticity of the videos, but once you conclude they're fake, any lines you draw back to Apple are *way* too complex to be considered at all.

    Fake video/photos == hoax

    Authentic video/photos == either a prototype or a one-off

    Anyone who thinks that Steve is going to stand up with an iWalk as presented at spymac is seriously deluded.

    Definitely a fake.</strong><hr></blockquote>

    That's because the hand that lays down the iWalk moves away the leader casing. Look closely.

    But it's still a fake, just look at this:

    The thing that I'm wondering is "What is going to be on the iCard that <a href="http://www.spymac.com"; target="_blank">www.spymac.com</a> mails out to everyone who registers on their site?

    I figure it will be something of a "Ha.Ha! Fooled you?"

    Also, if the motivation behind this is web site hits for advertising, who would want their legit products asociated with a hoax website?

    If this was a murder trial, they'd fry in the electric chair. The evidence says their are guilty.

    well, i thought of that in the first place, too. but then i remembered the screen of the gameboy advanced is also grey when turned off.

    nontheless i think it's a fake. it's just not apple-like. the interface seems much too complicated and inconsistent to me. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" /> </strong><hr></blockquote>

    The GameBoy Advance (not Advanced) has a black screen when off like all couour LCDs

    Dunno if it's real. Biggest evidence for me that it isn't is that the site is still posting the pics/video.

    Besides, I don't want a PDA. Having a movie playing iPod would be cool though.

    Think they could fit a slot loading DVD-ROM into the iWalk? Now that would be cool. <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" /> </strong><hr></blockquote>

    Yes, in case you haven't already gathered from the other 11.5 pages, there is absolutely no dispute over whether or not that device actually exists or not. We know it does. The question is if it's an empty box or not.

    SPYMAC have really ****ed up. Their 'by far the best hoax' was actually too good and got too much attention,

    Now after the whole world has been diggin, we know that the registered owner of Spymac is a product designer in germany by the name of ehlis...who has gone to great lenghts to do this. But he was found out. Sorry mate, but no-one's ever going to believe a Spymac pic/video ever again

    Erm, I have a GBA sitting on the desk here right in front of me and the screen is most definitely not black. It's grey.

    I still say its real.

    The "leather case" deal

    -any one can see it was moved by his hand hitting a 3 dimensional object

    The dial

    -I can put that off to software glitch.

    (but this still gives me doubt)

    you people know that this is NOT DVD quality film. Its a compressed .mov file!! <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

    Sure there are artifacts and such. THAT IS WHAT HAPPENS!!

    I disagree. If you were to go to a professional and ask him to do it for you, sure, it might run you $50k. But give the same tools to a couple of college kids in Germany and let them mess around since October on it... you've got a net cost of nearly zero. Some people create Star Wars fan films, some people produce future hardware hoaxes. All in good fun.

    What I'm secretly hoping is that spymac aren't the ones behind this, but that they received this from some deep throat who's playing a prank on them. Then, at MWNY the perp can pull a similar stunt on, say, MOSR, then on thinksecret. I would say AppleInsider, but they'll only have one update before MWNY and it'll be about os x 10.2.1...</strong><hr></blockquote>

    probably true lucky. i suppose i could figure out how to do something like this in a fairly short order of time. but, that said, the physicality of the object is very real. there's no way they cg'ed that wheel on. i stepped through that "mysterious 45 degree jump" and could figure that the finger was moving before it touched the wheel and then finally touched the wheel and moved it at a fast pace. the camera and the compression following could easily have made it look like some sort of jump.

    not to mention what has been posted before about the wheel being there in all the scenes, including the turnaround movie. now, someone could have created the whole thing out of lexan, but that's a whole lot of work. so yeah, it's possible that someone spent a TON of time doing that.

    as far as the "floating text" is concerned, it actually looks tracked onto the image to me. it does move in a funny way in comparison to the object, but remember that this is video that has been compressed and probably frame reduced. if you've ever done a super for television, you'd know that things that are one-pixel tall get moved around A LOT (they look like they're dancing around, sorta like a moire) because of the screen resolution not being able to properly display something so small. what i'm saying is that i've seen things that looked as strange as that (which isn't that strange) that i was also present to watch being filmed so could easily verify its physicality.

    i'm not sure if the device is a real apple device, but it's something very real for sure. my bet is on it being real or at least a prototype.

    Yes but stupid title. I keep reading it as: "Oh my god. I can WALK" (know it isn´t because of you). Why is it always threads with strange titles that have succes? Like the "Mercury Rising (" thing.

    Mercury Rising was one of a kind. these recent mamouth threads are no where near as legendary, fun and indepth.

    they'll be forgotten but mercury rising will never be.

    of course that's coming from a key member in mercury rising

    iWalk is definitely fake, Apple would have taken it down already had it been fact

    I was too but as always on the same side as Fran. I just quit halfways through. That thread must be the reason why I think you two are the most importent posters here. If neither of you were here I wouldn´t even read AI.

    I know I have asked before but do anyone still have the thread in some form?
