Any ideas when this baby is going to be coming out? I'm hearing late Janurary/early Feb. Anyone else have any leaks?
Late Jan Early Feb sounds optimistic.
The iPhone needs 32Gb NAND chips (it currently uses 16Gb NAND chips) the reason why the iPod Touch can hold 32GB is because they have the space and power requirements for two layers of chips whereas the iPhone only can manage one.
Intel/Micron will start producing the 32Gb NAND chips Q1 2009 so I'm thinking the next larger hardware refresh of the iPhone will have a 32GB option and the next larger iPod Touch will have a 64GB option.
From what we can tell, it will be announced at MacWorld, and will appear in stores in a few weeks at the most. There will almost definetely be an update of some kind around Jan 9th.
