change default email address in mail

Does anyone know how to select one of my many email addresses as the default one to send from in mail?

    Mail Preferences, Accounts drag preferred account to top.

    Doesn't work that way on my end, but under the Composing preferences there's an item called "Send new mail from:" and a pop-up menu where you can select your preferred account.
