    no mini.

    no "surprise"... hardware-wise...

    blah.

    [edit]

of course Apple had to add in amazing tech that's going to have shitloads of furious responses... no removable battery. simply amazing in a laptop...

I'm hoping the mini gets a stealth update. Okay, somewhat a forlorn hope.

As far as the battery goes...if it lasts 7 hours it almost doesn't matter. To double that run time you probably have to go to the $300+ external battery packs anyway.

    Last thing is itunes DRM-free.

C'mon, no Mini updates was beyond a joke 2-3 months ago. If there is no stealth update, they really are just taking the piss. Why not even mention the updates?

I get the impression they are trying to make the keynote as bad as possible so that people don't miss it next year. Mission accomplished IMO.

The 17" battery lasting 8 hours (7 hours on the 9600M GT) means nothing when you can only charge it 1000 times. 8000 hours = 333 days. Fair enough you may only charge it once a day but a 3 year lifespan on a battery isn't great.

Maybe they time it to run out just after your Applecare finishes.

LOL! I expected nothing and I got something close to it... but I'm lovin' the GarageBand and iPhoto updates, not to mention the refined iWork apps.

This was the most worthless Macworld in recent memory... I can see why Steve didn't care to show up.

The mini updates seem a little too major for a stealth update. It's the same thing on the store anyway.

As far as the battery life goes...if it lasts a lot longer (lifetime) and the replacement cost isn't too horrid then it's probably a wash if it really dies in say 5-6 years.

The concern is, Apple have had a lot of batteries die in their Macbooks. If this happens to someone, it's not as simple as Apple sending out another one to you and you sending your old one back. You have to send your entire machine to them.

I'm also not sure why the antiglare option isn't on the other MBP.

Same reason FireWire doesn't exist on the new MacBooks. If you need a matte screen, you're going to pay for it.
