is it possible to add the date to the top right hand corner as well as the time and day

    Yep, although it's a wee bit of a hack:



    Go to System Prefs,/International/Formats. Hit the "customize" button next to "Dates" and configure that however you like. Then copy the entire date bar, hit the "customize" button next to "Time" choose "medium" formatting, and paste the date next to the time there. You can add spacing between the elements, just like regular text.



    And you're done!
