Why the hell do we have to pay full price to upgrade to Jaguar, im sure its great but its not even a full version #, its not even a full .#
This is pretty stupid, we have been dealing with a unfinnished os for a long time, now we have to pay full price for our faith.

I mean, Windows XP was just a $99 upgrade from Windows ME - and that was a complete and major overhaul. SP1 which will include many enhancements will be free.
Why is Apple doing this? It should be $129 full, $69 upgrade, and $19 if you purchased a Mac with 10.1 in the last 6 months. If Apple really wants everyone on OS X, then they have to make an effort too.
While we are at it, .mac should be optional to those who want all those features while leaving the eMail option as a lower price (like $19 or $29 per year for eMail only).
One more thing, if you don't have the hardware to update your computer line, then lower the prices. Especially if you have inventory to move out. I find it very hard to believe that it costs Apple $3500 to make a supped up G4 tower.
The upgrade from 10.0 or 10.1 should be around $19-$49.
Just a side note... I called my local Apple store earlier and asked them if they knew anything about the upgrade price from 10.1 -> 10.2.
The person told me: "Unless you buy a new Mac now, it looks like you have to pay $129. That's what we heard. And as far as I know, it's going to stay that way. I'm sorry, it really is unfair."

I do think it is invalid to complain about the price because it's numbered 10.2 instead of 10.5.
I mean, it's not like the update is any smaller by being called 10.2, in fact, it's quite massive.
I'll buy it. Of course I wish it was cheaper, but Apple has to make money or there won't be any updates to be had, and they have been working on it for at least a year.

Everyone can whine about its only .2... but you all darn-well-know it is more significant then the number indicates.
Maybe if they actually called it 10.5 but followed the same scheme you'd be happy.

kewl...$129 US is about $200 Canadian, so I was put off by the price. I just graduated, but my student card stays valid till end of August, so I should be able to grab it at the university comp store

The dates are from today until when Jaguar is in stores.
I had up to date from 8.6 to 9 in 2000, cost me $40, I think.
My new iMac was bought on 8th June and those X.1 little up to date coupons it came with mean piss-all.

last time i checked, we aren't living in a communist country or socialist state. you expect hard work and innovation to come free or for $19.99. This is ALOT cheaper than any MS upgrade. 10.1 was a minor upgrade cost. 10.2 is a major upgrade. But hey, if you don;t want to pay $129, keep using 10.1.

I dont find it unreasonable. There is however one thing I dont like or agree with. Paying for my @mac.com email... Everything else in .mac i think u should pay for. But not my email...

I realize its a great release, but we have to pay full price twice just to get a finished OS, and I'm out of school so I dont qualify for ed price. It labels the people who bought OSX before this release suckers, the people that used it, supported it, and helped apple make it better. Their is no excuse for not having an upgrade price, other than pure stupidity. Their more worried about getting new customers than keeping the ones that have kept them alive for all these years.
It seems posts on this board are getting more and more negative about Apple (esp after the macworlds), this is sad for a mac supporters board to talk about how apple sucks all the time. Yes Steve came back to bring us out of certain doom, but he is a complete moron sometimes.

Jaguar is a full update. It's a more than fair asking price.

It's a stunning OS. Worth it. You get alot of free iapps...greatly enhanced functionality...
Unless you want to pay M$ prices? Try Xp? Any takers?

the way it used to work was the larger the increase in version number the more stuff was changed in the program, so higher number = more stuff = more money, but i guess that really doesnt apply anymore.
Like I've said before you will be paying for things all of your life........get used to it.
This is a full version upgrade as far as I can tell. In other words it's not just a small upgrade like 10.1.
I've paid $99.00 or there abouts for every major ( and yes this counts as major ) upgrade since 8.0. Given that that was many years ago the rise in price isn't out of line.
By the way I've come to the conclusion that those #s mean what ever the company wants them to and drawing too close a corellation to what's come before is meaningless.
