Quartz Extreme functionality is supported by the following video GPUs: NVIDIA GeForce2 MX, GeForce3, GeForce4 MX, or GeForce4 Ti or any AGP-based ATI RADEON GPU. A minimum of 16MB VRAM is required.
This has been known ever since it was introduced.

Yea. Too bad Apple didn't tell us when we all preordered. Then kept us hanging for months and months before the half way fessed up that they dropped support for the older systems that were "suppored". One way or another Apple super ****ed up that one.

Actually, the information was on Apple's site months before they started taking preorders for 10.2. If you would close your mouth far enough for a few minutes you might have been able to look here. Way the hell back in May.

Excuse him (scott_h_phd), he can't help it. He's just retarded.
Never could understand why so many people bitch about QE (or is it just the same few doing the rounds on all the forums?)
It would be like me getting pissed off at Apple because the new top of the line Mac's can use iDVD and burn movies but my G4 450 can't.
News flash folks... technology pushes on and one of the MAJOR driving forces in that push is to get YOU (joe consumer) to spend more money.
Those with iMac's can't complain ONE BIT! They had a choice PowerMac (expandable) iMac (not expandable) you got what you paid for. Laptop owners same deal... due to size laptops are not condusive to upgrades. G4 (Yikes!) owners too bad for you too but you did buy in at the bottom of the line.
And guess what folks... We are all gonna be 'ripped off' when Apple comes out with DDR based systems (when ever that is). This is what we call progress and by now I'd figure these folks would know how things work but I guess not...
I know and I'm sorry I really am. I've got nothing against retarded people so long as they don't venture onto these forums. Then they automatically shift from retards to flame bait.
Scott, who the hell did you screw to get that level of psuedo-education?
The only thing I say, is that they better keep that damn ADC technology or many people are going to be pissed when they upgrade

Actually, I've known several mentally handicapped people and they are capable of a lot more common sense than some people you run into on the boards. Obviously, profoundly retarded folks have a whole other set of issues, but most "retarded" (IQ from 60-80) people are really not that different from the rest of us. Some are really nice, some are bad, and some are just kind of passive and neutral. It's too bad folks add a negative moral aspect to a term that describes an inherited condition that you have no more control over than your haircolor.

Well, I would be more critical of Apple if the product wasn't a pre-order. But I would think that you would have taken the time to read up on it before you ordered. It seems to me, that Apple has stated pretty clearly that only higher end graphics cards would support QE.
And what's up with putting _phd behind your name? Hopefully the excuse is that your a green Phd, because I'd hate to think that you'd be that pretentious. I guess another excuse would be that your parents enrolled you in mensa... Save us all!

Dear tool, Apple has the thinest support for the Rage Pro. The thing works and that's about it. None of which could have been read before or AFTER crApple shipped OS suX.

No support for Rage...

And...?
Why oh why can't Apple put a damn agp slot on the iMac?

Because then you wouldn't have as much to talk about.

Shouldn't it be more like "Rage doesn't support Quartz Extreme"
Yes.
Thank you.
The sad part is Scott probably has some intelligence but with that attitude he really asks for it.
