Something better than ffmpegX?
Is there something better I can use to convert MPEG-2 TV recordings to DivX (for my Xbox 360) and iPod formatted MPEG-4?
ffmpegX is a horrendous app... it's buggy as hell and the author seems to think people might want to pay money for it. Surely there's something better. Even Applescript interface on ffmpeg might useful.
What does everybody else use for transcoding on OS X? Thanks

The new encoder is available here:

What I need to do is convert an non-encyrpted home DVD recording to DV for editing. Handbrake doesn't convert to DV and Transcoder Redux choked on the DVD image. Any ideas? I'd rather not pay for software to do this if I can avoid it. Thanks.
Cinematize will do the job perfectly but you have to pay for it....
