Who pays for Push Notification?

I can understand PNS is much better. But how are apple going to finance it for free?

Imagine billions or trillions of Alert needs to be served each month.



I know it wont be expensive and Apple could certainly afford it with its huge pile of cash.

But it will still be expenses.....

    They get a share of sales from ATT so that should be enough.

    If it helps Apple sell iPhones and helps sell apps from the App store, then it is only a matter of it not being too costly to implement. I am sure they did their cost/benefit analysis and determined that it could help with sales and was therefore worth offering as an included service.



    Also, since they decided to prevent background apps, they really had no choice.
