By the way, I'm not some Epson employee, and don't like them half as much as I love Apple, but I've had great experiences with my Epson printer - I've not had any failure with my Epson Stylus Photo 750 since I bought it a couple of years back and I've been even more satisfied with their latest products. Can't say the same for Lexmark, Canon or even HP though.
I'm in the same boat as mrmister and maximawoo with my Epson EPL-5700i laser printer. I gave up on OS X drivers for this printer a long time ago. Hell, even the Classic OS 9 driver for the 5700i sucked ass. I've just been taking a long time to find a new printer since I can still print from my Rev.A iMac, which still runs OS 9.
Ideally, I want a new printer with PostScript so that, worst comes to worse, I can use Apple's PS drivers. I also would like a network printer. Finally, a duplexing feature would be nice to save some paper. Considering those preferences, HP and Brother seem to be my only options. HP printers are twice as expensive as Brother, but they have a solid track record of writing and updating Mac (Classic and X) drivers. Considering my terrible experience with Epson driver support, I'm inclined to spend a lot of money on a reliable brand name. What do you think?

I would happily pay for an OS X driver for my EPL-5700i! I'd pay US$50 to transform this useless paperweight into an OS X-compatible printer and not have to buy a new laser.
PS: I did try GIMP-print when the printer list stated that the Epson EPL-5700 had been reported as working and might actually work. But as Brad pointed out, there's a qualifying sentence stating that those printers might not work at all. Bottom line: As of today, GIMP-print does not work with the EPL-5700i under OS X. If only this problem were as easy to solve as Eugene's one-line answer would make it seem!
As the PPDs are cross-platform, it shouldn't really matter which OS is being used. So 600 DPI doesn't work right, but it does seem to be "mostly" supported.

the great thing about them is that you can always stay current with epson.
This is because they are constucted so poorly that you need to replace it every 2 years.
Disposable printers.
