Jaguar Kills Target Disk Mode?

I tried putting my Powerbook into Target Disk Mode to copy some files onto it from a PMG4 and holding Command+T at startup did nothing. The computer just booted normally.



Before Jaguar it would go into Target Disk Mode and then I could mount the PB's hard drive onto the PMG4's desktop.



Did Apple get rid of Target Disk Mode or just change the keyboard shortcut?



Anyway, I was able to do copy the files using Rendevous so it all worked out in the end, but Target Disk Mode was kinda neat.

    It works on my iBook.



    Also, I think it's just 'T', not 'command-T'. I don't know if that would make a difference (don't feel like restarting to check).

    Yeah, I tried it right after reading his post and then felt stupid for not realizing this sooner. I've been using Windows too much at work which causes me to try and over-complicate things all the time.

    I hear that. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" /> Anyone know what desktop computers can use Target Disk Mode? Isn't there a list somewhere? My Blue And White G3, or a 400 mhz PCI Graphics G4 couldn't do it, could they?

    I believe it is AGP machines with Firewire.



    Not that AGP is a requirement, but I believe Target Disk Mode was added starting with the motherboards that had AGP.

    I LOVE target disk, but I wish Apple would add an optional level of security. I'd like to think that if my iBook is stolen then at least my files won't be accessible without my password.



    But as it is now, anyone with another Mac and a firewire cable can open up my HD like a can of corn.

    Can anyone confirm the Target Disk Mode supported models? I think I saw a page on AppleSpec or something. I Will check this later.
