User Account deletion bug in Jaguar

I just filed the following bug to Apple Feedback (http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/):

[quote]

Hi,

I have encountered the following bug every time I attempted to delete a user from the Accounts System Preference panel:

while the user's directory is indeed archived into the Deleted Users directory, the account remains present in the Accounts panel and the corresponding user directory also remains in the Users directory. I have to request user deletion (in Accounts) at least three subsequent times before the account is finally properly deleted.

My system configuration:

iBook (v. 1.12) 256 MB RAM, Mac OS X 10.2.1 (6D52)

This is an annoying bug. I was hoping it would get fixed with Jaguar 10.2.21 but unfortuantely it hasn't happened. Please fix ASAP.

Thanks

Can't say I've seen that behaviour, and I've set up and deleted a good half-dozen accounts for various testing purposes. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

I had this problem as well. Only once when I was trying to delete my old user account during my failed attempt to migrate to a new account. Did you get an error about not enough disk space while you were trying it? Mine tried to copy all 6 gigs of my mp3's into the disk image and I had already copied them once. Needless to say my Ti didn't have enough disk space. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

actually i didn't get any error message. It just failed silently. And I have ample space left.

Try and fix permissions (Disk Utility).

I did. It had no effect.

I had the same problem after originally installing Jaguar. Did the others who experienced this do an "archive and install" installation of Jag? I expected that is where my problem came from. I could not delete a user that exsisted proior to my upgrade to 10.2.

I have since clean installed Jag and have not again experienced that bug.

This happened to me in a very early variety of X. The only solution that seemed to work then was to go into 9 and erase it from there. I haven't made/erased any accounts since then.
