Hmmm seems to me in system preferences ..date/time. Use the little map deal and click to the nearest one.... I saw melbourne, but also you can move it just a little left or right. Give it a try maybe.

If you have it syncronizing...you may want to shut it off. Then just set the time on your own under date and time. It may be the only way to set it for now and keep it accurate. You may be syncronized and getting bad times that way.

    hope it helps for now.

Also, remember that not ALL cities in the world are located on the map. You just need to pick a city in the same time zone as you.

There aren't ANY cities for NC, USA on the map -- the closest is about 200 miles away.

I have one 'date'n time' problem me self in 10.1.5. Can't get it to display 24 hours a day time. Seem to be stuck with the 12 hour settings. Instead of dispaying 5.10 I want to have 17.10. Maybe the localisation for my area is set up like that by default <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Apple put this in the stupidest location. Under 10.1.x, it's in the International pane, in the Time tab. That should do it for you. I just don't understand why they didn't put this in with Date and Time.

Same problem happened to me, but the other way around. It kept putting my time in 24 hour time even though I prefer 12 hour, and I couldn't find it until someone pointed out to me that it was in International, not Date and Time.

There's a similar issue with iChat, where the default is to not show people's names, only their picture. There is another issue with the MacOS itself where in OS 9, the default is to not collapse windows on a double click (which was automatic in previous versions). And the mouse tracking speed, key repeat rate, and delay until key repeat are always WAY too slow by default, especially the mouse tracking speed. At the maximum setting, it is just barely fast enough.

Funny all these default preferences that Apple sets that are so different from reality.
