airport express cannot get valid IP address when extending network
hi
i am trying to extend a network with an airport express but the airport express cannot get a valid IP address and flashes amber.
my setup is as follows: netgear router/modem which handles PPPoE connected via ethernet to time capsule which handles the wireless network.
time capsule is working fine and has a valid IP address but airport express doesn't.
i have checked 'allow this network to be extended' on the TC, and connection sharing is in bridge mode.
i wonder if someone could help me troubleshoot this
thanks
nick

This is probably the problem. I do not know how standard wireless network extension is. But I would expect it, or Apples' implementation, is not very standard. You might get better results if you had your TC be the DHCP server instead of your Netgear modem.

thanks, i solved this problem by running the TC in 'Share a Public IP address mode' and using a different DHCP range (i.e. 10.0.0.1 rather than 192.168.0.1), which prevents a double NAT issue, and all seems to be working fine.
