OS X 10.1.4 NOT OS X 10.2.4!!!

When I boot my iMac running OS X 10.1.4 the clock and icons(modem, volume speaker, display) next to take about 40 seconds to load. This hasn't happened before, and has just started to happen. What could the problem be or is there a problem?

    In 10.1.x the menu extras always took a while to load for me...though not forty seconds.



    The PPP modem one took the longest, though in 10.2, everything is now dandy. I don't even notice it anymore.

    i will time the load i don't know if it takes 40 seconds

    Why not upgrade to 10.1.5 or better yet, 10.2?

    I am not paying $129 for 10.2. Now I heard that there are problems with 10.1.5, it was like the beta for 10.2, i am i right?

    I'm running under 10.2.2 at the moment. Before that I had 10.1.5 and I was running fine. And no. 10.1.5 WAS NOT the beta for 10.2. It was just the latest revision to 10.1 to make it more stable.

    i was reading on another form, that the update freezes alot and you have to do a force quit

    10.1.5 was the best version of 10.1 for me.

    I didn't have any problems with 10.1.5. What menu items do you have active? And, I don't know if upgrading at all will make that too much faster, it's been fairly slow every time I've ever seen it load.

    dont do it, man! 10.1.4 was the best OS version so far for my mac. so you'll save 40 seconds while your menu bar items load up, but consider everything else that'll get worse.

    when booting 10.1.5 is "Starting Crash Reporter" suppose to start every time you boot up. This is the first time I have noticed it, it may have been there before and I didn't notice it.

    $129 for Jaguar? Not any more. Go to MacMall or MacWarehouse or any of the other online sites. Many are offering as much as $50 off.

    yes, 10.2, and 10.2.1, and 10.2.2, and probably 10.2.3

    I second that. Jaguar's really worth the money.



    Do you know anyone that's a teacher? They can get it for free.

    Well, that sucks that Apple won't do any more updates for 10.1.5.

    I may update when OS X 10.3 Panther is released, until then I am sticking 10.1.5.

    ~Does that mean that I would need to have 10.2 already installed to install 10.3? damn.
