Weird interface oddity in 10.2.2

I think...

If you click on the apple menu, then move the cursor across the menus to the right, they all come down like they should; All the way to the date and time menu. However, when you move the cursor back to the left the date and time (and any menulets) will come down, but not the "normal" menus on the left.

Is there something about this behavior I just don't understand? Or is something more sinister at work here...

    The menu extras have always had that quirky behavior. Status menus are even stranger.

    I noted Apple about this soon after installing 10.1, still hasn't been fixed. Either they have bigger fish to fry, or they just don't care. Most likely some technical reason.

    They probably dun care. This problem has been around for a long time already.

    Is it just me, or has the quality of Apple's products been going down hill the last two years...?

    A solitary interface bug means quality is going the way of the NeXT Cube? And just because it has been around for a while (October of last year) doesn't mean Apple doesn't care about it. My bet is that it was a workaround for some other, more important problem. Probably something to do with the front app being unresponsive and the Menu Extras being good to go...dragging back over to the left-hand menus did something wonky to the Window Manager.

    </wild, unknowledgeable, rampant speculation>
