Check your Software Update, 51MB.



The 10.2.3 Update delivers enhanced functionality and improved reliability for the following applications, utilities, and technologies: AppleScript, Classic compatibility, Disk Copy, Disk Utility, Image Capture, Mail, OpenGL, Print Center, and Rendezvous. It provides audio, disc recording, graphics, printing improvements, as well as AFP and WebDAV networking improvements. The update also provides updated security services and includes the latest Security Updates.

    LOL I recently reinstalled my system and forgot to install 10.2.2 update so will do that first of all!

    Just downloaded it. Took like half an hour on 768 kbps DSL. I immediately threw in the 10.2 install CD and ran Disk Repair and Permissions Repair (for kicks and giggles). Nothing appears to be broken . Although it didn't seem to fix my issues with Yahoo Instant Messenger 2.5.1 (crashes on quit and session expires when I try to send an IM). Mail seems more responsive, but maybe I'm just seeing things. Cheers!

    Just installed X.2.3 and noticed that when I go to play QuickTime content, like from Apples' home page, it just plays it, like now, without launching QuickTime. Maybe this was already there and I'm just noticing it.

    This would be a nice feature because, unless you have QuickTime Pro, many .mov files on the web can't be saved. If they open In QuickTime .app there should be no problem saving them.

    wow. this update is fantastic.

    it is definitely faster. no drag or stress in opening apps, even on my g3 600 dual iBook.

    it is more stable. and, to top it off, it fixes the hp aio printer driver fiasco so that hp all in ones can now again scan.

    get it and use it.

    51MB is a bit of a whopper. Dial-up users are going to love that.



    I'll give it a day or two before inflicting it upon my Macs.

    ...I dunno if others can verify this, but using Xbench, my UI test results went from 26.5fps before the update to 40.75fps after the update.



    My Quartz score was also much better.



    Anyone else verify this.



    Mine is a Dual 867OC'd to Dual 1GHz with a Radeon 8500.

    Just finished loading down to my iBook (600 Mhz). I have noticed, however, that IE is much faster loading pages. I'm not getting the previous appear, disappear and finally appear again screen. Sweet. No other problems so far.



    P.S. It about 3 hours on my dial-up.

    ouch...i feel for you...cable to airport is so sweet....downloaded, optimizied and restart was less than 10 minutes.....not to rub it in too much....now to play around and see what is broken....g

    Can anyone tell me: am I going insane or is there no longer the option to *save* your software update downloads after they've been installed? I'll be damned if I'm going to download 51MB worth of update without the ability to apply the update again later on (without downloading again).



    I can't find the stand-alone file anywhere on Apple's site (it's not in the KB file).

    Actually, I believe you are right, Moogs. I haven't been able to save the updates that require a restart since 10.2 (including this one), IIRC. They don't seem to be kept in the /tmp directory like they were in 10.1 either.

    I don't know if this works for all updates, but someone in an Ars forum said you could download updates to the desktop that are checked, it's under the Update menu.

    Yes, that's how it used to work. Now, though, when the dialog pops down telling you to restart, I believe that menu is disabled.

    If you see my "complete lsbom content" thread, you will see that nothing related to iTunes has been touched by this update.
