    OK...so you want config?

    * G4 cube/320 MB ram/ATI Radeon 32mb/10.2.3

    * Iomega external CDRW 650 drive 4x4x6 (USB 1.1)

    * Maxell CDR Pro Discs

    So while I'm here yet again, I didn't just rip the CD's because WMP rips to WMA, and why rip it twice anyway? And I really love it when mac people assume I'm a theif because I don't believe for one second they don't "steal" music of their own. And also, programs like Kazaa are FUN because you can find lots of cool stuff...legal or not. Mac people have become such staunch defenders of copyright law because their isn't a program that lets you have the fun of Kazaa on the mac! Limewire? Hahahaha

    Also, yes, I am a goon hired from MS to come in here and piss on your little hill...because MS cares SOOOOO much about what a company with 3% market share is actually doing.

    I wasn't saying windows XP is perfect, I was saying it lets me do what I want to do. OS X, on the other hand, does nothing but break, crash, and give me compatability problems. I've been using macs since system 7.0, it's safe to say windows has finally surpassed it.

    My friends are primarilly video editors. They have problems with FCP and DVD studio pro in X so much so that they CAN'T EVEN USE IT. To do their editing they have to boot into 9. The regard FCP 3.0.4 as a last minute kloogy bug fix on apple's part to avoid admitting to serious problems. The best part though is that they STILL haven't fixed it.

    Remember when I said this isn't the first time OS X has failed me? Well let me list the other problems this POS OS has:

    * STILL no joypad support...last i checked even the third party hacks didnt work.

    * DivX support still pretty lackluster

    * Could the browser situation be any worse?

    * The finder is still buggy as hell

    * all the pure ego, whiz bang, 'see our OS DOES look cooler than XP' special effects of aqua make OS X seem equally fast on my cube as it does on a new dual processor machine. But hey, it looks good.

    Apple: the Prada of computers (very pricey, not comparitivly better, and the company sells only one thing - name brand recognition). In light of the lack of offers, I'm reducing the price on my cube: One dollar and nine cents.

    Cheers.

    If you are actually anything other than a conspicuous troll ... your problem is your external USB Iomega burner.

    That POS burns coasters all the time, and never gets above 2X ... on Mac or Windows.

    Why didn't you sell it when you had such horrible problems with 10.2.1?
  • Reply 26 of 35
    Cheetah, you were met with harsh criticism because you came with the intent just to downtalk osx rather than ask for help with your problem.

    even without asking, people have already figured out what your problems were, and told you how to fix them. I'd say that's pretty generous. The fact that you continue to rant just shows that you're out to troll and not here for help, so we'll just chalk your problems up as "PEBCAC" (problem exists between chair and computer)

    So your not a "mac person"?

    Well personally I dont steal music at all, its much nicer to buy it and have some lovely cover art and listen to it on a nice stereo at 100% quality and surface noise.

    Anyway you seem to have very little knowledge about computers and operating systems in general so why dont you just never come back here again if you hate it so much and go out and buy yourself a lovely plastic fantastic dell if the grass is so much ****ing greener. I'm sure you'll be back after 5 minutes using godawful cd burning programs there:

    easy cd- retarded interface, slow as hell

    burning rom - ARGHH ****ing clipart everywhere and god awful MDI interface/really awkward to name all tracks

    troll i might be, but ignorant about computers i am not. BSCS and MSCS plus some years in the biz. and whoever said i didn't want to fix the problem is right. Why do you think i moved my MP3s over? BECAUSE I AM FINISHED USING MACS. I've been running 2000/XP for about a year and a half, and I haven't come crawling back yet.

    I like coming here though because I love to see close minded people talk sh!t about windows.

    But you all enjoy yourselves, because we all know your computer is prettier than mine.

    And that IS the primary function of computers...looking pretty.

    OK, but the client and the server are still two different pieces of software. So what I said is still valid, one can work and the other can still be broken.

    Well, mileage varies and all that. I'm sorry your experience wasn't good, although it sounds like most of your grief was caused by Windows not playing well with others (a deliberate tactic on their part - they even made Win NT and Win 95 boxes work poorly together on a LAN in order to force people to upgrade!). You are suffering from the fallacy that your experience must be everyone else's, however: I've used Windows 2000 for a year now (work), and I'm relieved every time I come back to my Cube running 10.2.3. It's much nicer on all levels, and by default it supports formats like MP3 that I can share easily among friends without even thinking about what platform(s) I'm sharing with, instead of WMA etc. That's an unambiguous advantage in my book. That, and the licenses and viruses and security holes don't frighten me. Again, mileage varies. The people who've had different experiences than you have aren't deluded any more than you are.

    Also, using the FCP/OS X problem as a slam against OS X in general is cheap. Yes, there's a definite problem. No, Apple didn't fixed it the next day, which means it's probably a big problem. No, that does not immediately bring OS X down to the level of Windows 3.1. That is trollish.

    Well, at least now you've officially branded yourself a troll. Congratulations on coming out o' the closet!

    So far you're the only one who've expressed derogatory remarks on any OS in this here thread, so... It's funny how ppl automatically assume that neone who uses a mac has never seen, used or liked using a PC running Linux, Unix, BeOS, Windows or whatever.

    Taken together, all OS:es have flaws, but they get less & less as times progress... Does anyone remember the multitasking of OS 8? The stability of Windows 98? God damn, how we all managed to got by is beyond me.

    I just find OS X to work the best for me. If I were to buy a new computer today, I dunno which one I should pick. The pricing, performance, software-compatability and upgradeability of a PC just can't be questioned. But the Mac has OS X OTOH, which has a lot less interface-quirks than Win 2000 or XP... Aah, dilemmas, dilemmas...

    To each his own, and throw a raw fish to the troll! <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />
