"Someday soon," Apple will be selling additional fonts for OS X.

This isn't a huge story, and will quickly become eclipsed by MacWorld news, but represents a nice little income stream for Apple - and a great resource for OS X users.

Special thanks to Why the Mac is so Great . Com, for noticing this new addition to Apple's site.

Quite interesting.. Maybe this is something for the keynote?

And it is surely something that will bring in some revenue for Apple! Im sure a lot of people are going to find it really nice to be able to download just that specific font they need, and see a preview of it first!

I'm sure that it would be quite nice for the mone that you shell out on a new mac to have an extensive collection of fonts already included!

Actually that is not new at all. That placeholder has been there for ages.

Am I the only one that remembers Apple selling (or linking to 3rd parties that would sell) fonts back when Mac OS 9 was released?

Nothing much of the site has changed, except the include at the top (the navigation bar) They should just take it out of the OS and their site, because they are ne'er gonna implement it, as I see it

They could at least link to other foundries and font sites -- ITC, Adobe, Agfa, LinoType, etc.

I would bet that they planned to strike a deal with one of these foundries to host a special page of their fonts on this site. I guess that never panned out.
