There are equal arguments about being able to buy the operating system and put it on whatever machine you want. If you want to stick to the licensing argument with somethibng about the eula even that falls apart when some organizations such as EFF argue that most of these eula agreements might be found invalid if someone had the money to challenge in ccourt the various licensing agreements from variou software companies. Stop supporting the tyranny.

I'm seriously tiring of your hyperbole. A company offering you a product on its terms, which you have every right to deny the purchase of is not tyranny. The definition of tyranny (since you seem to not own a dictionary) is as follows: a cruel, unreasonable, or arbitrary use of power or control. Until you wake up and Apple throws you into a work camp for speaking up against the "Supreme Leader" do yourself a favor and get a life. If I can't do exactly what I want at any time is your definition of tyranny, someone needs to airdrop you into North Korea asap.

The reason people defend Apple so vigorously is because it provides its users with a better experience than its competition. It does that by right of the fact that the hardware and software are patently made for each other. If I have a problem with my Mac, when I go to the Genius Bar, I'm not immediately told, "oh, I'm sorry sir, but unfortunately the problem your having is one you need to call Microsoft to receive help for." Apple also doesn't outsource its tech support so that an Indian man who barely speaks English has to consult a manual for five minutes before he can help with any of my questions (while doing a poor job of it as a result).

I knew when I bought an Apple Computer that its operating system only runs on its hardware the same way that I knew when I bought my PlayStation3 that the Xbox360's operating system wouldn't work on it. I also knew when I bought my Palm Pre that its operating system wouldn't work on the HTC phone whose hardware I found more attractive. If you can't comprehend that there are, in fact, tangible benefits to a customer from having a computer that is an end-to-end product, then buy something else and let the people who can go on with their lives.

And one thing about tyranny: if I don't like it, there's nowhere else to go. If I were to decide Apple were somehow abusing its power, I could go straight to one of its competitors and Apple would have to change as a result. Apple isn't forcing anyone to continue being a customer.

There is a reason we have a legal code: because if everyone were to be able to do everything that they desire (that includes authority figures and organizations), the world wouldn't function. Your definition of tyranny is straight up wrong, but if you believe technological anarchy is somehow a better choice, then by all means, see where that leads you.

By the way osx is not ten years ahead maybe you should take windows7 for a test drive. I am sure we will have some converts here when they use it

You're still here complaining, so clearly no one is stifling your free speech. You clearly don't hold that right in very high regard though, if you're using it make such an idiotic assertion as the CEO of a multibillion dollar corporation creating an account on a blog just to argue with you (you know, since you're so important).

I have used Windows 7 and I find absolutely nothing life changing about it. It's a better looking, better performing version of Vista that still suffers from what I see as Microsoft's fundamentally flawed market strategy and inability to innovate.

If you like it more, though, feel free to use it, and we will stick with what we like. If there's one thing I hate more than tone deaf Windows fanboys, it's tone deaf Windows fanboys who want to bring their flawed logic to the Mac.

Do you realize that Apple has just accused Psystar of destroying evidence?

I think that was his point -- discovery can be a tricky process, and that lawsuits can be dismissed by a judge if even theoretical problems with evidence arise during discovery.

You can, as long as the company that "created and owns" the OS is willing to license it to you ... Microsoft is willing to do that (their choice) .... Apple is not (their choice). They both have the right to make those choices. You have the right to agree with those choices, or not ... you don't have the right, morally or legally, to force someone to do things "your way" just to please you. I'm guessing you must have thrown a lot of "temper tantrums" when you were a child .... maybe you still do???

All Psystar wants to do is what every other PC manufacturer does, sell computers with someone else's OS, except Psystar wants Apple's OS, not Microsoft's.

What's so hard to understand? ..... just because they want apple doesn't mean apple has to want them .... haven't you ever heard of falling in love with someone who doesn't love you back? That's the way it goes sometimes .... just move on already.
