I went into Applications then found the mail app, right clicked to show package contents, opened a folder labeled "Mac OS", then clicked the icon labeled "Mail" which is a Unix Executable File then mail launched successfully, have to leave terminal running in order for mail to run... its a good work around for now but does anyone have any suggestions?
Snow Leopard Fixed these issues, so if anyone else experienced the same issue upgrading to 10.6 fixed the issue!
If you have a weird problem like that again, try downloading the combo update for whichever version you've got to and re-apply (e.g. weird problem with 10.6.2 -> download 10.6.2 combo update and apply).
