World's greatest desktop speakers
I just bought a pair of M-Audio AV40's: incredible. The shipped cost was about $140.

I have a 5:1 setup in the other room of mixed JBL and Klipsch components -- which cost me something like $1300 -- and the clarity on the AV40's is noticeably superior. If you are in the desktop speaker market, you must check these out. Even at lower volumes, hearing old music is like hearing it for the first time.

Desktop speakers don't have to be made out of the actual desk.

Meh. They don't even match, I couldn't live with one black and one white.
And here I thought this was going to be a thread about Hitler and Steve Jobs.
LOL at kind of 'very' sparely chosen comments.
You want surround sound on a laptop? It's just a tiny little computer ... ...Your budget is 5k?...
