Moving hard disk to a new machine

At work I am currently using a 400MHz "Sawtooth" G4, running 10.2.3.



I now have the opportunity to move to a 450MHz Cube. Can I simply swap the hard disk over, or is it better to perform a clean install.



Is an installation of Mac OS X able to run on any machine? Or are the installations machine specific? I used to have Mac OS X installed on my iPod, and I was able to boot up most machines from it?



Any help would be greatly appreciated?

    I think it should work without any problems, since, IIRC, MacOS X loads drivers and such only when needed. So it should just only load the drivers needed for the machine its connected to.



    If you connect the drive to the Cube and it boots-up without any problems, I think it would be safe to say that it'll continue working without problems.

    You should have no trouble moving to the cube, but make sure that the firmware is updated before moving it. I'd update the firmware and then move the drive.

    Thanks guys, I've downloaded the Firmware and will move disks on Monday.
