The KB document can be found <a href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107362"; target="_blank">here</a>. In the article, there is a link to the 10.2.4 Combo update article as well.

EDIT: Oops! I guess Fluffy edited his original post, adding in the same info I did. Oh well, I'll keep it here for those on this side of the bom listing.

No problems with the update so far. Address book definitely opens faster and seems faster overall. It's GREAT that the app doesn't close with the window closing.

Mail also is measurably faster with large mail boxes. My Sent mail has over 10,000 messages. When selected it could take 5-6 seconds to 'sort', etc. Now this is consistently 2 seconds, or so.

The biggest improvement for me is the Windoze network interface. All the local share now show up without a lot of futzing. Also, it auto-finds what domains are presents. This is a big improvement for me.

    i found these two interesting:

    ./Applications/Utilities/Bluetooth File Exchange.app/Contents/Resources/MovieFile.icns

    ./Applications/Utilities/Bluetooth File Exchange.app/Contents/Resources/MusicFile.icns

    shape of things to come....

    Oh, goody, I needed to restart my Mac anyway... <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />

Still, Apple smiles on me, as I can now just clone my HD onto the 12" PB I'll be getting at the weekend.

    Edit:

It's on, no problems at all. First impressions: Dock hiding/unhiding seems smoother and faster, iDisk and FTP server connection is ridiculously quick, and the Finder seems a tad more responsive to boot. Fingers crossed it's fixed the problem Mail had where it barfed every once in a while getting new messages over broadband...

For those that have modified their httpd.conf file for PHP for example be aware that the update puts a new file in place and for example breaks php.

It saves your current file as httpd.conf.applesaved. To fix this and include the new changes you need to add/modify the following lined in the httpd.conf.applesaved file and then re-install it as the httpd.conf file (please save the current httpd.conf file as something like httpd.conf.apple10.2.4 just in case I missed something.)

In the load module section add

    LoadModule hfs_apple_module libexec/httpd/mod_hfs_apple.so

    LoadModule rendezvous_apple_module libexec/httpd/mod_rendezvous_apple.so

(if you have a rendezvous module remove those references both here and in add module)

    In add module section add

    AddModule mod_hfs_apple.c

    AddModule mod_rendezvous_apple.c

and before the last line of the file add

    &lt;IfModule mod_rendezvous_apple.c&gt;

    RegisterUserSite all-users

    RegisterDefaultSite

    &lt;/IfModule&gt;

    . this should do it.

I have an iBook 500 with Jaguar. If I update to 10.2.4 can I clone the internal drive and stick it on a new MiTi PowerBook G4 12" SuperDrive?

First of all, at the Apple Store SuperDrive PowerBooks have a seperate OS. Why? Second, if I use Carbon Copy Cloner and Clone my iBook after 10.2.4 to a Mini PowerBook G4 12" SuperDrive will I be ok? Any volunteers?

Overhope did you do the cloning? Any problems at all? Bluetooth, etc?

This formatting is really crappy can a mod fix it? I'm on a 12" screen after all!

I just installed 10.2.4 but forgot to remove the WaterColor Theme. Nothing has blown up yet, to my surprise. I am biting my nails and anxiously waiting for a new version of AquaFix. Things seem Snappier?.

The combined updater is listed on VersionTracker now @ about 76 Mb.

I did have a weird glitch with my iDisk earlier. Tried copying a 4.5 Mb file to it, and the copy itself took less than a second. It then sat there on (Finishing) for about ten minutes, where I'm assuming the real upload took place. Weird.

I haven't done it yet (got to go shopping tomorrow ), but there's no immediate reason I can see why it shouldn't work. And if it does barf for some reason, I'll just pop the Software Restore CD in and have another think about it...

The launch OS on the 12" PBs was 10.2.3 build 6H28, but 10.2.4 is 6I32, ie, a good deal higher. Any improvements in one build are built upon in the next, so there should be no problems with a standard 10.2.4 installation being cloned straight across. The version the 12" PBs were released with will contain specific extensions and fixes for that particular hardware platform, rather than some specific version of the OS.

Bluetooth is now much more simplified (no more fiddling with com ports) and smarter. Address book turns on bluetooth functionality as soon as you launch it, (no more clicking on the button) and as you know you can close it's window.

File send option in menubar, sweet, but there is room for improvement, for example if i try to send something to my t68i (jpg) it will give me an msg, saying that this file type is not supported, but it sends it without probs. :-)

    Good work apple.

It doesn't seem to have hurt anything on my computer as far as I can tell and of course it's snappy?. On a side note Safari v.60 has a few problems. 10 dot 2 dot 4 (as Jobs would put it) seems really great.

What about enhancements to iChat? Where's support for multiple AIM screen names? Where's ICQ/MSN compatibility?

    And where's my Dual-1.8 Ghz 970?

    ARGH!

(well, this is something new from Apple we're talking about, so *someone* has to post a bitchy article complaining about it! )

I just noticed that I have an "sw" directory with some .libs in it at the root level now that I can't delete (owned by root). What the heck is that? Was it something 10.2.4 did or perhaps Virex 7.2?

I advise most people to steer clear of it until another update is released. If you use fink, for example, the files Virex installs can break things. Then there are licensing issues with McAffee using the libs from the fink project and not properly crediting sources. Gah. It's a mess.

Installed 10.2.4 and wished I hadn't. I'm in OS9 now! My hermstedt DSL modem now refuses to connect no matter what I do. <img src="graemlins/surprised.gif" border="0" alt="[surprised]" /> Yes-I've got the latest drivers, informed Hermstedt and Apple but it's friday which means I'm stuck till monday unless I do a clean install to get back to 10.2.3

    Anybody else had this problem?

Installed nicely, but knocked my Kona card out of commission! No SDI output, AES/EBU audio, nada. Downloading the latest BlackMagic drivers solved the problem though. Phew. A little heart palpatation, but no biggy (now that it's back to normal).

All in all, a snappy little update.
