I don't know about anyone else but I am so happy I could cry. I have posting complaints to Apple for over a year about the inability of X to print custom page sizes to my Agfa Avantra imagesetter. Then out of the blue this morning... CUSTOM PAGE SIZES. This is the best update to OS X ever better than 10.1 better than 10.2. I would have waited in line to pay $129 for this upgrade and it was free. Happy Days!
-- REALLY long startup time on pismo 500 powerbook
this powerbook is about as basic as it gets, as it is my wife's word processor/dissertation machine.
my work computer has broken the connection between dreamweaver and fireworks mx roundtripping, but i am holding off blaming 10.2.4, because my computer is loaded to the teeth with software and a million files...
I don't think that I use a weird setup. I run a prepress dept. for a printing company. I think alot of mac users experienced the same problems that I had. But don't get me wrong I freaking love OS X. Especially when I am not working. When I am playing on the internet or just goofing off it is great. At work is when it was a problem. Mostly when outputting(printing) to my HP DesignJet 5000 or my Avantra.

Besides, as I live in Washington DC, there are no shortage of sources telling me what the weather is like right now (top story on the Weather Channel!). And I only used the program for when I was leaving my house and that ain't happening today.

Yep got exactly the same issue - and still without a fix!
After much discussion and searching with other folks at the Apple support boards, I have reached the conclusion of going back to 10.2.3. 10.2.4 seemed fine, but now - a week later -- I am failing to acquire any IP address after waking from sleep (which hasn't happened until today). If anybody else had has this problem, let me know -- it never happened at home when I first installed 10.2.4 using our DSL router. But so far the only way around this is to archive and install 10.2.2-->10.2.3.
And I'm not running a "weird" system -- PowerBook G4 867/768MB RAM on my university's LAN.
going back to 10.2.3 worked -- I have no problem waking from sleep again...think I'll just stay put for a while...perhaps till 10.3
anyone else notice a massive amount of pageins after upgrading to 10.2.4?

Do you normally keep your machine on all the time? I wonder whether the huge amounts of initial pageins is due to a restart after the 10.2.4 installation.

I sometimes have problems getting an IP via DHCP too. I only get one after rebooting the machine. I'm still not sure if this is a problem with 10.2.4 in general (which seems unlikely), with one of the network utilities I installed (like Cicso VPN or that DynDNS client), with both of them not playing well together, or maybe just with a corrupted preference somewhere.

That's probably it! I installed the new Cisco VPN last week. The day I installed it the problems started. After that and downgrading back to 10.2.3, I read some more and tried the 10.2.4 again. Before that, however, I completed deleted all traces of the VPN software and then booted from my system CD to repair disk permissions. Finally, I updated to 10.2.4 via the download and not the software update preference panel so nothing else could be running behind the update (at least I had conscious control over when the installer would run). After that I restarted with the CD and ran the permissions repair again. To finish I reinstalled the VPN client without anything else running.
I have had no problems getting an IP address since -- knock on titanium.
I just deinstalled the 3.7.2 Cisco VPN client today, and whaddayaknow, suddenly DHCP works just fine again, no more endless rebooting to get an IP. Phew, just in time, I was almost ready to do a full reinstall. I don't recall having such troubles with version 3.7, so I guess I'll give that a try later on. Hope this works better.

FAST. Me like.

10.2.3 didn't use as much as this. i can almost see the percentage going down in front of my eyes...

i haven't done much right now, and i've already got 1,000. i used to have 3 after being up and running for weeks. this is stupid.
i've also noticed a few other things.
severe increase in startup time for many apps.
battery life on the PB is crap now. drops almost 1% per minute.
trackpad weirdness all of the sudden.
not sure what this really did on the good side, but i've found a pile of problems since. i'm going back to 10.2.3
i think this is the first update i've ever had problems with though, so i guess overall i'm still up.
