Hi there,

I'm running OS X 10.6.1 on a MacBook Pro (2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo with 3GB RAM). I keep on getting this error message (this is the start of it anyway) when in the Finder, and inside my Movies folder:

Other than this, Snow Leopard is running really well for me.

Does anyone know what is causing this, and any ways to fix the issue?

Thanks!

I've just been on the phone to Apple for 2 hours. Still no resolution :S. Does Quick Look access the RAM in some special way or something?

My guess would be the codec/format of a video file in your movies folder is causing quick look to hang. Does it only happen in that specific folder?

It seemed to be happening when I would highlight some types of movie files- one was an .m2v movie format that QuickTime didn't want to open- although I'm sure I could play it under 10.5.X.

There was also two .mpg files that contained only audio (that did play in QuickTime) that seemed to invoke the crash also.

Then I have a folder of .flv movies that seem to cause the crash to happen over and over again.

I should add that the crashes don't occur in List View, but it does happen in Icon, Column, and Cover Flow views.

I resolved it by drastic measures- formatted the HD and did a clean install of Snow Leopard. All is well now. Seems even a bit faster than the update I did over 10.5.8 also.
