Preferences not saving...

I have no idea why. This seems to be happening randomly across several applications.

For instance, I can set a finder view, and if I go back to it, it's gone.

iTunes keeps quitting and saying it can't save its library.

Is it a permissions thing?

Thank you in advance!

    Could be

    - a permissions thing

    - lack of disk space

    - invalid prefs (back them up and delete them)

Well, it's not lack of disk space. It *was* full, but now I've space and it's still happening.

How do I find out whether it's a permissions issue? How would I go about fixing it?

Try to boot into single-user mode (Cmd-S) and run fsck -y (you'll find lots of posts on this scattered over the board).

Next, boot into the UI and run Disk Utility, telling it to Repair Permissions on your startup disk.
