Ummmm...voice recog is nice, but what about drawing...? Would you say: Up, down, up, draw line 2.5 inches long at 260 degrees? That would be awful.

It would be painstaking, but for graphic designers (professional, amateur and would-be) forced to take five because of carpal tunnel, or who are paralyzed or otherwise physically incapable of more conventional input, it would be a godsend. This is the sort of thing that has "accessibility" written all over it.
Those with fully functioning hands could continue to use more efficient means - but even they might be interested in stepping back from the monitor, and telling the computer to move that figure over to the right just a touch...

Not to mention writing code. Can you imagine yelling at your computer "else ( ... NO, else, not L's... NO!"

You have a point, but I think it'll be more of a combination of voice and mouse to eliminate many of the scrolling up to the menu bar.
You would still use a cursor to draw bezier curves etc...
for example:
1) select the item with cursor
2) say " rotate" and a dialog box would pop up.
3) say " 180 degrees"
If there are a number of fields in the dialog box, you could just hit the tab key or say "tab" to jump to the next one.
ooh, ooh, imagine the next step in graphic design then! Think of it as the interface used in that time-police movie with Tom Cruise, where he used gloves to shove arund objects, but instead you use your hands in an advanced form of finger painting. Different tools or colours for different fingers.. Index finger for paintbrush, ring finger to erase, pinkie to do a selection, whole palm to move objects... Now that would be sweeeet...

We just graduated to flat panels LCD!
...it's going to be a long time before we get to floating holograms as seen in Minority Report.
More important will be direct manipulation tools and still a mainly visual interface. People get about 80% of information to their brain through their eyes. I can only assume that future interfaces will naturally find a similar breakdown.
I think Quartz and its evolution/potential has some legs. I do expect changes to the Aqua UI's behavior, nevermind the inevitable appearance changes. I think we might be looking at big changes in the UI metaphor, or at least the attempt to do this. I think this was part of the idea behind the changes we first saw in the developer previews of OS X, thought I think most of that was just that it was feature-poor. I thin while hardware will undoubtedly change UIs, I think Apple's newfound interest in speech technology, and their foresight in creating Quartz and other Core* technology puts them in a comfortable position for this, while I think they're tempted to experiment on the software side a bit more.
Well I say the next interface design is obvious. Platinum was a solid, Aqua is a liquid, next should be a gas.

So what sounds cooler, Oxygen or Nitrogen? I guess it depends on how Jobs says it at the unveiling. Wait, what's the one used in refridgerators? Is it Freon? Or Xenon. Man, gases have awesome names.
Maybe they'll use Krypton, symbolizing the only way to stop the super powerful entity known as Microsoft.
I had an Idea. How about multiple windows under 1 titile bar? Kind of like the "revealing triangles" used in 9 and X, but more substantial.

EXACTLY! But you cant do that with normal Finder windows. I mean, have Home in one, Documents in the other, and Finacial Records inthe third, etc. Can you do that in X?
My other Finder UI idea: have momentum in the UI! How about being able to "fling" a window to the other side of the screen with a flick of the mouse?

But yes, that would be sweet!

if you thought aqua was intrusive... imagine neon!
