So, what'll it be?



me, i am partial to a nice scotch, or good ol' gentleman jack.



(for mixed drinks, include recipes)



I figure we gotta keep up AppleInsider's fine reputation of being a haven for a bunch of drunks

    I'd be surprised if the majority of this forum is even old enough to legally drink. Thius being both a forum for American and British users reminds me of a stragne story (not funny) of when my German cousins came over one time. There is either no drinking age or it;s very low in Germnay (don't remember which), and Tom (15) tried to order some nice wine to go with his steak, and the waitress fairly icily said "We do not serve alcohal to minors." John was okay with this, but his father... man, he went into coniptions over the lie of American freedoms... very strange.

    It all depends:



    For everyday, no-frills, no fuss, "watching a ballgame at the house" beer drinking: Bud Lite



    When I'm out at a bar or am feeling a bit more uppity and less redneck, I dig on Bass and Sam Adams.



    I'm not much of a liquor/mixed drinks kinda guy, but a buddy of mine turned me on to Barcardi 151 and Dr. Pepper, in a TALL glass with lots of small ice cubes.



    Two big glasses of that (1 part Bacardi, 3-4 parts Dr. Pepper) and I'm feeling nice and toasty and chatty.

    As a Frenchman, I prefer Pastis. Needless to say that I had a very hard time with the drinking age and dogpiss beer when I moved to the US. There's a few things I still can't stand, even after 7+ years here. The drinking age is high on my blacklist. Others include the ridiculously low speed limits, (how the **** are you supposed to drive 3000 miles cross country at 65 mph?) and the silly imperial system of measurement.     For beers, I've taken a liking to the local <a href="http://www.foggybottom.com"; target="_blank">Foggy Bottom</a> Lager. I also enjoy Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.



    For hard liquor, anything with Vodka is ok by me. No headaches!



    I wish I was more knowlegeable about wine. Maybe when I grow older...

    We make our own beer. At any given time, we've got doznes and dozens of bottles of beer in the house (in various stages of fermentation).



    Also like good, tough red wines that make your teeth turn red.



    And anything with a little umbrella in it.

    I'll drink most any imported beer.. and I like dry Italian wines.

    Sierra Nevada is very good. I also like Sam Adams and Harpoon IPA but when I hit the local blues bar I like to slum it with a Lone Star.



    For liquor I love cognac (Courvoisier) in front of a fire on a cold winter's night. When I'm in a more blue collar mood bourbon (Wild Turkey or Maker's Mark) works for me. When things are teetering on the brink of anarchy - tequila.



    For wine I like a good cabernet (Chile is making some very good ones these days) or if a white is called for sauvignon blanc or chardonnay are good choices.

    For general "get drunk" drinking I like Vodka but only Smirnoff.



    Do you get Aftershock in the USA??

    I'm not a big fan of drinking to get drunk. A is A, afterall. But I certainly do like a good beer (well, duh).



    My favorites: Guinness, Harp, Bass, Blue Moon, Boulevard Dark, Warsteiner, any good unfiltered wheat/HefeWeizen, Sam Adams Cherry Wheat, and anything from the Blue Cat Brew Pub.



    Damn, now I'm thirsty...

    L'Ouzo et le Pastis on presque le meme gout. Both Pastis and Ouzo are flavored with anise/liquorish. Ouzo is a bit rougher, from what I hear (I've never dared to try it myself).
