An iPhoto slideshow, with individual photos, can only be run inside iPhoto. If you export it, it is converted into a QuickTime video. So there are no individual images anymore. That's why you can't convert it into a PP file, because PP files use individual images, text, and sound embedded in the PDF framework.

So the short answer is: no, it can't be done, because they are different beasts.

But there's another reason why he can probably not send a slideshow ? actually a QuickTime movie of the slideshow ? to you using email: SIZE! Email can handle no bigger than 15MB attachments. A QuickTime movie file of a slideshow will most probably exceed 15MB! So via email is out! What then? Simple really, you use one of the FREE Large File Transfer services:

? Podmailing.com is FREE and allows transfer of unlimited numbers of files of unlimited size. I've transferred upto 6GB files without a hitch. Temporarily out of order, but worth keeping an eye on.

? Yousendit.com is FREE upto 1GB/month with max 100MB per transfer.

? Pando.com is FREE upto 1GB of files or folders per transfer.

? Sendspace.com is FREE upto 300MB per transfer.

? Pipebytes.com (beta) is FREE for files (not folders, so zip those) upto 300MB per transfer.

? Youconvertit.com is FREE for files (not folders, so zip those) upto 1GB per transfer.

? Filedropper.com is FREE for files (not folders, so zip those) upto 5GB per transfer.

? Transferbigfiles.com is FREE for files (not folders, so zip those) upto ???MB/GB per transfer (untested).

? Mailbigfile.com is FREE for files (not folders, so zip those) upto ???MB/GB per transfer (untested).

? zUPLOAD.com is FREE for files (not folders, so zip those) upto ???MB/GB per transfer (untested).

? MegauUpload.com is FREE for files (not folders, so zip those) upto ???MB/GB per transfer (untested).

Want to post a very large file, or a whole batch of big files, to a forum like this one? Send that file/those files (zipped, to keep 'm together, and the package smallest) to your own email address using one of the above LFT services, check your mail (also your spambox!), open the message, copy the link that's in it, and paste/post that link in a message like this one in your forum. Tada!

Here's a demo. A zipped folder with 67 desktop pix, 51,1MB. Would never fit through your ISP's email pipe:

available for 7 Days or 100 downloads.

This is how you send high-res photos or movies of the new baby to the proud new grandparents on the other side of the country. Or the world.

OTOH: if your friend and you both use FREE TeamViewer (http://www.teamviewer.com/), then you can see that slideshow while looking directly at his desktop! Tada!

Zoiks Scooby! Sounds like he may need to think about Power Point. I had emailed him a cool PP slideshow of great rock formations that was about 5.7MB and he wanted to do the same idea with a slideshow he had created with iPhoto. I'm assuming the friend he wants to send it to doesn't have a Mac. Thanks for the info.
