C'mon apple quit screwing around & just put google navigation on the iPhone. Don't drag your feet, choice is a good thing. (closed platform, sometimes - actually most of the time, terrible choice)
Can someone please explain the fascination with the iPhone having a flash? I had a Motorola phone at one point that did and it worked great as a flashlight. Then again I do not use my phone as my go to camera, I bought an actual camera for that, but I do not see a whole lot of people complaining that their cameras do not make phone calls and play apps. Maybe its just me, I love my iPhone and al the things it can do. The Droid has what should be an excellent camera with a flash and from all the reviews Ive read it is the worst part of the whole set up. So why waste time and money adding more crap to screw up the looks of my phone if it is just going to be a nuisance? Same goes for all the people complaining that the 3G iPod Touch didnt have a camera, they already have an iPod Touch with a camera, its called an iPhone.

It?s to still photos in low light. THe problem is that Xenon flashes are pretty crappy on phones. The images look washed out. Better HW seems to be a better option. The 2GS still camera does pretty good in low light if you tap the area you wish to photograph.
I?m seeing more handhelds with quasi-nightvision capabilities for true light situations. I think this would be better since you could use it as a video camera and you can see distant objects at night while a a flash is limited to pretty much to what is in front of it.
If one of the two were coming I?d guess that it?s better camera HW over a FLash simply because the flash would mess up the aesthetics of the device.

I know you are partially kidding but some will see that as a great idea so I’m going respond as if it’s serious…
The Logo in the middle of the device would make holding it to use the flash awkward. It would also mean that cases would have a large chunk missing from the back, and make it impossible for cases like the Mophie Juice Pack which has a battery back there or ones that have a clip attached. This is less than ideal; it needs to be on the edge near the camera. Perhaps they could make the flash a "donut" shape around the lens or shape it to be next to the lens in an oval shape the way the lens and mic are on the iPod Nano.
Below is Samsung with a flash and the new Nano. I can see Apple using the same format for an iDevice if they were to give it a flash.
Apple do use Li-Poly batteries in their iPods and iPhones. I think they?ve been using them in their iPods since day one even though they only list them as Lithium Ion instead of Lithium Poly or Lithium Ion Polymer. You can see the difference because they are flat batteries, the standard in cell phones and PMPs.

"Google is your friend" Well, in this case anyway. It is in fact an 1150 mAh lithium polymer battery in the 3G and 3GS phone. The original phone had a 1400 mAh battery but I'm not sure if it was polymer.

I understand, even on the iDevice Tech Specs pages they list Lithium Ion, yet every iDevice is Li-Poly. They even have a page on batteries that list everything as Li-Poly despite not being clear on their other pages…
We know this just by looking at the battery because they are flat and can be made into virtually any shape, unlike Li-Ion with used rolled cells.
This is new for notebooks because Li-Poly have size limitations. What Apple really did was create a way of stacking a battery* of Li-Poly batteries together with a way of orchestrating them with a special power management unit.
If you watch the video you can see how they are multiple batteries connected by a smart power management unit…
Notice the Sony battery below has an injected plastic casing and it squared off despite being so small and thin. That is how you know that it’s a Li-Ion even without the accompanying text…
The original lithium ion technology used thin plates spread with the electrolyte and then rolled up like a jelly roll. They needed to be made in round form to include the safety devices. Lithium polymer technology used die cut plates stacked on top of each other like a deck or cards, with the plates connected in parallel. They could be made in a variety of shapes and sizes, and could be made very thin, which made them attractive to cell phone manufacturers.
