EQ all audio coming out of my Mac... not just iTunes?

I use the EQ in iTunes but I'd like to be able to EQ Safari or Firefox when listening to streams online... or Quicktime... or any other audio source in my Mac. Is there a way to do this without using AudioHijack? I have Audio Hijack Pro and love it, but I'm looking for more of an always-on set it and forget it solution. A system prefs control panel would be perfect, if only there were such a thing. Is there?

I'm using an Apogee Duet an amp and studio speakers, so there's nowhere in my audio chain for an outboard EQ.

I found a solution. I don't consider it ideal, but it is pretty good.

There's a system wide EQ, etc, app called HEAR. The interface is a bit of a mess and much of what the software does is crap, but its EQ seems pretty good. There are a ton of other options in it, but I shut everything else off.
