Don't want to get all sappy on you guys and gals, but I just wanted to post a topic on the community we have going here.

Over the year and a half to two years I've been posting here, AI (I love that abbreviation!) has really flourished. People from everywhere from South Africa to that backwater hole Canada post here, on topics ranging from music to books, to speculations about hardware.

You have Junkyard's wry sense of humour, groverat's verbal bitchslaps and logic, Moogs down to earthness and love of the sauce, pscates' thought provoking ramblings, Belle, Bodi, Applenut's depressed impatience, Eman, Amorph, Dorsal's indide info, Kormac's terrible accent immitation, MadFooL, 68k's literary masturbation, etc. etc. The list goes on.

So much diversity.

So much personality on these online forums.

Digital communities are a pretty new phenomenon, and this is the best one I've encountered.

I was really jonesing when AI went down for the umpteenth time, and stayed down for like 6 months.

The good times. the bad times. The blackouts, the raging flame wars, the bickering, the socializing, the postulating.

I'm glad it's back. I'm glad I'm back.

So much liveliness on these boards.

OK, enough sappiness, end of post!

I feel the same way, and would add Michaelm's poorly spelled enthusiasm and Sinewave's love of debate to the list of reasons I visit.

Now all we need are a couple more insiders getting sued by Apple. In effect, martyrs!

No. Really. I only wish I had more time to post. But I read many of the posts and enjoy one or two a day.

Great post.I feel the same way. It was horrible when AI was down and then once AI came back when Nick asked me if I wanted to be a Moderator I was even more excited. This place really is the best community online.

And by the way, I'mm glad someone finally mentioned me in a post like this.

I agree. Even though I have my own Forum on my own web site (also using UBB software), AI is still my favorite online Forum.

    I feel unappreciated.

But all the coolest things are unappreciated by the masses. Macs...Radiohead...Me...

That's what actually does suck about this place... I can't get away with throwing words around. People take themselves much too seriously, and are too quick to pounce on others over what they should get clarification on or ignore.

Oh, should I add this to make it look more official?

So you are saying that I am an humorless stupid european ignorant? Spoiled little american brat. You wouldn´t survive one minute in the real world.

No the only real problem I have with this place is that I always have to remember to put a

, a or a <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" /> when using sarcasm or really twisted humor here or it will be misunderstood.

... sizzle chest's bizarre nick, EmAn's sporadic capitalization in his nick, applenut's flagrant overuse of the [rolleyes] smiley...Peter K's flame wars... CHEETAHS STUCK CAPS LOCK KEY!!!!....

What about tuning in to see what Mac is sitting on my silver desk this week?

Seriously, this place is really great. I love having a forum like this to access, whether it's just to kill a few minutes (more like hours), get some advice, or whatever. It's great.

It's funny, I'll be out somewhere and see something, Mac-related or not, and think to myself "Man, the guys at AI are gonna love this." It's like a gang of friends for the most part.

The only thing I miss is bugging EmAn... I guess I shouldn't now with him being a big moderator and all.... I think I may have had the poor boy in tears with my "FrOm ThE mInD oF mUrBoT" signature.... heh heh

    ahhhh the old days

Yeah, I don't know where they all came from. Also, I don't understand how a few days Sinewave had a lot more posts than him and now I have like 50 more than him.
