Gizmodo has some pretty good coverage so far. Makes my iPhone interface look pretty dated I must say. And it has Xbox Live integration as well.



Giz is saying that this is the most revolutionary OS since the original iPhone OS and it changes everything. It's a ground up redesign and all previous Windows Mobile apps won't work. It's a clean slate (thank God!)

    I beg to differ. It makes Apple's boring "chicklet" interface look tired. Look at all the interface pics here:

    No indicators for how much content is off-screen, occluded titles, no consistency to the navigation directions, animations are not as fluid nor as prevalent as the iphone.



    I wouldn't say the UI looks more modern, just a different approach. I personally still prefer the iphone UI design. It's a good effort from Microsoft though and for once they came up with something unique to their own product line. XBox integration is good too.

    There are aspects of the new Win 7 mobile UI I like and some I dislike.



    The tiles look is pretty slick to me, YMMV. But I dislike having text that goes off the edge of the screen. That really annoys me for some reason.



    The big question will be how intuitive it is for new users. Its easy to make the UI look intuitive if *you* are demoing the thing and already know how to perform tasks using it. How new users adapt to the new UI will determine if the new UI is a winner or not.

    I can't stand words floating off the screen either. Plus, add in all the different screen sizes offered and it gets even worse. Without a "full" size screen with this OS the UI is useless. There doesn't seem to be clearly defined breaks in hubs, the tiles just stream or blend together with endless scrolling. I don't know where my photo albums end and my most recent contact begins. Even web pages have definition and white space.



    The only thing that might be useful on this phone is the integration of services i.e. Facebook photo upload. And, at least they didn't completely copy Apple's UI like everyone else did.



    I also thought the demo was pretty crappy. Even the presenter couldn't get the name right calling it Windows 7 Series Phone at some points. Also, at one point he wanted us to "image what it would look like" when talking about Bing Maps.



    But, since they're still 6-9 mo from going to market I'll give them the benefit of the doubt to refine the UI
