One of the anti-iPhone slurs I remember that PC dorks were slinging before it was released was that Mac users would use the iPhone to apply their makeup. So perhaps there IS a connection.
Yes, except Avon is one of the worst socially responsible cosmetic lines out there. Further, Apple's hiring should be based strictly on talent. Perhaps this hire meets this requirement. Hard to see how Avon and Apple go together.

Between its GHG emissions and waste/toxicity/energy use activities, supplier responsibility initiatives, and now this, Apple seems to be wearing on its sleeve its 'corporate social responsibility' initiatives a lot lately.
The lots of experience in retail, consumer products, and marketing is something a lot of execs have. It is hard to see how these things mesh in the context of cosmetics mesh with Apple.
The Princeton thing is completely unimpressive.

Maybe you have better credentials why aren't you co-lead of Apple Board of Directors?
Yeah, expecting a bunch of basement-dwelling, bottom-feeding geeks to understand executive recruiting or management is a bit stiff AI. Probably should have passed on this article.
*rotflmfao* *snort* *wheeze* I'm sorry the commentary invited that (for the most part). Good heavens my word. Haven't laughed so hard in a good long time. See this is why so many of you aren't employed as executives, run Fortune 1000 companies, let alone a Fortune 50 company and offer salacious and ridiculously disconnected comments in these threads.
Wow, now I have to go back and harvest some of your comments to feed to a friend of mine who does geek references as a stand-up comic. Thank you for the richness and fertility of your febrile egos! Bravo to the rest laboring to throw pearls before porcine commenters.
Now back to your previously interrupted porn downloads boyz.
The preceding is offered as a humorous aside, and an ironclad example of snarkiness. Quality snarkiness is worth the effort. Try some today! Moderators, if the intensity of the snark is too much feel free to delete.
Perhaps there are such attributes as governance, oversight, and leadership skills she brings, that your cute-sy, quizzical, little brain cannot comprehend?
Or (to use the word above in another person's post) is it simply misogyny on your part -- care to explain, for instance, what the connection might be between a preppie clothes maker and computers?
Upscale mall retail strategy & experience? Do I win a prize?
But Avon... come on... that's very thin ice - most women identify it as a crap brand.

You'll have to let us know when your stand-up comic friend is performing... based on your description, I'm sure many of us would love to attend and catch up on our zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzz's.
Get a grip... be honest, this lady is a little 'abrupt' looking and she works for a low brand make-up company. How dare anyone make a joke about her! It's not exactly like her privacy was breached, this is her promo photo.

LOL! Yer very funny. So now I just have to ask since you brought it up, and seem to be claiming the ability to discern and judge these sorts of things (asssuming your narcolepsy doesn't kick in first...) just what SHOULD the lady "look" like , and based on what do you judge Avon to be a "low brand"? To give you the best possible support I would have to assume that you have long hours of makeup experimentation (in front of the mirror?) on which to base that judgement, and such a refined sensibility to call her abrupt (ala Joan Rivers perhaps??)
No oxygenhose, you in fact are the one with no sense of humor, who cannot accept a jab in the ribs for being such a dork and missing the point entirely. Your follow-on comments reinforce my jibe entirely.

It seemed more like a joke to me. \
Yep, nannies are everywhere.

She's also magna cum laude from Princeton.

And Steve Jobs is a college dropout. Just saying...
Yes, misogyny is just so funny.
All comedy requires violence or humiliation of somebody/something as a central part of the joke.
By developing a sense of humor, one can learn to identify what's funny.

I guess next to Al Gore, anybody else is a +

Or not. And right now I find this hysterical.

Good gucka mucka! Some of you folks need to get a grip, a life and a sense of the fact that humor comes in several forms - PC and Not PC.
You do all remember that the best selling apps when the iTunes Store first opened where the fart apps, right?
Then the app store was flooded with all the bikini apps, right?
There will always be folks with a 12 year olds sense of humor.
Unfortunately, there will always be those that forget they ever had a sense of humor.
Most sane folks I know sit somewhere in the middle. Go figure.
Yes, misogyny is just so funny.
Sorry but I now had to react:
Even though misogyny is not the word I would use, I understand what your saying.
It's not like there are a lot of naked boys apps out there for us girls.. Why? Maybe we don't need the fleshy pictures some of you need
So now we know who stripped us of our boob apps.
LOL

Having spent time in various health clubs at various points in my life, let me just say that I can understand your point.
I'll add to your comment that there are times when I certainly wished I had not seen other folks flesh at all!
