iSight magnetic stand!!

I have just purchased a new iMac 17" and when I bought my iSight they didn't come with the magnetic stands. If anyone on these boards has one lying around that they didn't use because of a different computer I would be happy to pay shipping and a couple bucks for it. I would appreciate the help.

You can buy an iSight accessory kit which includes all the latest stands, including the magnetic one for the aluminum displays.

The magnetic stand is for mounting an iSight to the display without adhesive. If you want to use magnetism to levitate your screen you'll need more powerful magnets.

Why is it that people call others names so easily just because they haven't got a clue about the Apple product line themselves?

The cinema displays can be used nicely with the magnetic mount because Apple has included a ferromagnetic metal strip in the top of the displays just for the usage with the magnetic iSight mount. And, oh my, it also works on my iMac - magnetic mount on a plastic display - WOW I wonder how that works

P.S. it's "You're a ..." not "Your a ..."

I like the levitate idea except use it for a pb. Have the magnetics built into the bottom of the pb with a default height of 1 inch. ctrl - option - f keys allow you to control the height, pitch and stiffness of the unit ( so your keyboard won't feel spongy while typing). Of course there will have to be a warning for those of child bearing age not to have it on their laps too long

Normal requirements still apply - same size and weight, being able to float over anything and allow me to get my work done with a great looking unit.

And I agree, what's with people casting random aspersions? People should be more educated and patient.

Anyway, There should be a magnetic stand in the iSight box. You pay enough for it.

True enough, but if you purchased an iSight when they first came out you do not have a magnetic stand. If you purchased an iSight accessory kit during the same period, you once again have no magnetic stand. The only solution: buy a new $30 iSight accessory box.

Hello mates,

I wanted to eliminate some desktop clutter, so I decided to move my iSight, which is placed on the desktop facing up at me, and to put it on my 20-inch LCD monitor. I searched in the iSight box for a good stand, and since I don't want to attach anything sticky to the monitor, I opted for the small magnetic stand.

I have a doubt though. The magnet in that stand appears to be quite strong. Could it affect the monitor somehow? When placing it over the monitor, nothing strange happens and the image is fine, but I'd like to be on the safe side.

any opinions

Don't worry about it - LCD's don't rely on magnetism like CRT's did.
