Normally if I'm just working at my desk or going out with friends or whatever, I wear boxers.
If I'm playing hockey I wear these REI MTS things (that and a jock, of course). They're kind of like your old cotton long-johns, only they're not baggy - more of a form fit. But not like spandex at all. Any hockey player caught wearing spandex in the locker room would be mocked like a schoolyard kid with a booger hanging out of his nose - then he'd probably get hockey-taped to the john until the janitor found him .
If I'm gonna play hoops or do something else that requires me to run or jump a lot (rare these days) I'll wear a pair of briefs so my nuts don't end up slam-dancing in my shorts.
BTW, corvette, I'm part Armenian as well. All this stuff going on in our ancestors' neck of the woods makes you think, eh?
I think they're pretty safe It also depends where they are from. There are many Armenians scattered all over that region. Anyway, if you curious about anything armenian, feel free to ask

That got me thinking and I hae decided tae investigate the potential for flesh-coloured long johns - possibly wi' a few strategic bulges incorporated in strategic places tae enhance one's cudos wi' the lassies - specially for kilties like mysel'.
