He should do a reality TV show... The equivalent of Kitchen Nightmares except he does with a failing company what chef Ramsey does with a failing restaurant. It could be called Conglomerate Nightmares.

Steve is obviously a opportunist capitalist and not a socialist, or else that $40 billion wouldn't have been created in the first place.

If the government decided that taking over Apple was in the best interests of the country, I'm sure he raise bloody hell. ...

Why bother to even post junk like this? You start with the disclaimer about not knowing, then your entire post is about how you think you know which way he leans politically. That's just stupid.

Also, you must be American to think that the only two possibilities here are "opportunistic capitalism" (not even a real thing actually), and "socialism"??? Jeepers. If you are gonna argue politics, at least know what you're talking about.

I don't think your analysis is particularly insightful either. For starters, judging by the way Apple treats it's employees, one could just as easily surmise he is just a regular liberal guy. Secondly, one can be a capitalist, and even agree with capitalism, but still not be an "opportunist" who only thinks of the bottom line. There's capitalism the system, and there's free market capitalist ideologues, and there's a few stops in between as well.

Americans don't even know the definition of the word "socialism" it seems, so why throw it around?

Let us see. Jobs personally asked Al Gore to join Apple's Board. Jobs hosted President Clinton at his home while the President's daughter attended Stanford. Further, Jobs could have a greater personal fortune is he was a little bit more greedy. The reality is he took on the Apple job when most thought the company was toast. He did is for free. He wasn't offered significant money for at least two years. He also could have pushed Apple down a path to increase the money Apple makes. It hasn't.

People get up tight over politics.

Steve Jobs is the Cinderella story of the personal computer industry. He will always be a legend that future CEOs will wish to aspire to for generations to come.

This is what is known as a Legacy

    Go Apple!1

Cheers, I think was the name of the Pub! But the pub was not THE place where one "can push your agenda"...

Now, those nipping at the heels of those who are passionate in their political beliefs and about where their country is heading, I wonder if they had any problem with political commentary made of the other side just a few short years ago, be it here on AI or elsewhere and I'm not talking just Mac? Believe me there was plenty of commentary and most of it 'snide'! I wonder if their stance was equally filled with the same bravado?

So one of the rules(?) is stifling speech! I've heard that somewhere before, oh yeah... The Audacity of Barack

At the end of the clip, Barack asks Virginia if he's wrong... according to the recent Governor's election, Virginia has answered that question.

AI is not the place for politics... It is EXACTLY the place. And so is the library and the grocery store, and the public school and the church and the ball park and the pub and the... If you fail to speak up each and every time when you have the chance, you only have yourself to blame when you no longer have that chance! \

Much as I see you point of view I have to say that the discussion so far is exactly the reason why politics ought to be kept out of AI. Some people here know a thing or two about a thing or two but witnessed by this thread politics ain't on of them. Its a long time since I have heard such drivel.

They should stop giving all these awards to Jobs - he might start to get a big ego.
