    Springfield, Oregon Best Buy:

I was about #15 in line and a manager came out and told us that a shipment was to arrive before 10am when the store opened. He told us not to worry, there would be almost 100 units and there would be enough for everyone in line.

I got a ticket, went in, and picked up a 32GB iPad and Apple case (which had also just arrived) with minimal hassle. They had no other accessories.

I saw several stacks of iPads, easily over 70 of them visible, and took a photo to document the occasion. :P

At 11:35 am Best Buy seemed to have an ample supply. No line. I asked for a 32 Gig, and the sales person got on the radio, called inventory and had one brought out. He handed it to me and asked another associate to escort me to the checkout counter. My iPad is still in the box. I'm full of anticipation...

    Glad I didn't have to do a perp-walk when I bought mine.

Mine's still sealed too. I've got too much crap to do today to unwrap it before the eve.

Dude, it's just a trick. It doesn't actually disobey the laws of physics (watch the knot that forms when he drops it).

I went to Best Buy just out of curiosity to see how long the line would be. To my surprise, there was nobody there. The display unit was sitting on the table unused. I found a salesperson and asked if they had any iPads left in 16GB. To my surprise, he told me that they had every model available. I should note that the store had been open for over an hour when this happened. I was very surprised. I picked up a 32GB model, and am looking forward to playing with it!

Plenty in stock at the Fair Oaks Mall Apple store in Northern Virginia. I didn't even have to wait to sit down and try the demo model. While I was there (around 2pm) they were selling maybe 1 every 5 minutes.

Maybe everyone is waiting on the 3G model?

I went to Best Buy to purchase a 32 gig ipad at around 1 PM EST here in Michigan. There were two Best Buy/Apple reps there with 4 display models. There were a group of about 10 or so folks lined up trying out the displays. Best Buy appeared to have ample supplies available.

Close to the center of the world here, a few miles north of Cupertino.

30 person Purchase line at 9:30am, none in the Reservations line.

We bought two 32gB models at 10:30am after a 30 second wait in the Reservations line, and there were dozens of boxes stacked in the store.

I would have sent this message from my iPad but there's no way I can get either away from our 8 year old or the wife. Can confirm that Sync is very fast compared to my first gen iPhone.

They were allowing reservation holders to buy two.

Walked into store to test it out, about 10 in line. After 5 minutes of waiting for a free demo unit and then 5 minutes of testing I wet back outside to get in line. It was empty. The only model thy had left was 16GB and they apparently received equal numbers of 200 for each model.

The demo units had many apps installed, including iWork.

After browsing on the iPad for the last couple of hours going back to browsing on my desktop just feels so clumsy and old fashion. I'm totally impressed by the quality of the screen and shocked that the landscape keyboard is actually very usable. Glad I didn't buy the keyboard dock. Most people aren't going to need it.

Is it only me, or have you noticed the absence of trolls---probably all in line trying to get an iPad at the Apple Store or Best Buy--should have pre-ordered

A few have been tossed, a few have been warned. Makes for a nicer experience, don't it?

My thoughts are the same. I also find the portrait keyboard great for one finger, better than the iPhone. Very fast and responsive. The new positioning on the back key is actually irritating, even though it's more similar to a computer.

I agree with you. I think the back key is misplaced or too close to the "enter" key. Also, the "enter/return" key is renamed as "GO"....maybe it takes a little getting used to.

One thing I noticed myself doing time after time was hitting the bezel instead of the space bar. Hmmm...maybe I should play with it for a few days and see what happens.
