One thing that went through my head was that the MBA might have a brace of A4's fitted (so battery life is extended?). It will be a bit like a "clamshell iPad" almost!
The thing that is stopping the MBP replacing the MBA, IMHO, is the need to keep an HDD option and so not shrink the enclosure to MBA levels.
I am in the market for an MBP, as my 2005 g4 1.66 is, how can I say it, worked hard just opening many sites. Youtube is a struggle.
Anyone got a guess on when iMac's will be updated?
If they are upgrading the chips in the laptops, would they not also upgrade them in the iMac's? The MBP's will have better GPU's if they don't update across the line.
Thinking about getting the wife a 27" iMac, but they have been plagued with a range of problems, so I'm holding off for rev.2... just wondering how long I might have to wait
They only released the last iMac about six months ago - isn't that usually about an annual thing?
I got a 27" i5 iMac on the day after Thanksgiving and I couldn't be more delighted with it. It's fast, the display is stunning, and, well, it's fast :-).
Well I can't wait for the refresh on the laptop line. Actually, I guess I could. I can wait three months, but not much longer.
No Blu-Ray. I hope Apple feels the same way about Blu-Ray as it does with Flash. Actually, I guess I don't really care about that either. I just wouldn't want a BR drive on my computer. It'd inflate prices for something I have no desire to have. Maybe an upgradable option would be OK.
Apple wants all music and movies purchased via iTunes - why have an optical drive? By removing the optical drive and switching to SSD in all laptops, they can come close enough to the AIR's thickness that it won't be a novelty any more, especially when folks can use the iPad as an ultraportable.
I don't think the air was every very successful anyways....
I strongly believe the Air was a primer to the next generation Macbook Pros. The MBpros won't be as thin as the current Air, but it'd be great if they get more sculpted with extended battery life.
I only have one thing to say. I just bought a MBP almost 2 week ago and if this is coming out on Tuesday should I return mine today before I can't return it and wait for this one to be released?

Your thoughts on this please.
I think you risk a 15% restocking fee and what if they don't come out on Tuesday? All tech is going to updated at some point so you have to ask your if you are happy with the purchase you made and ignore any new tech thatk will likely come out during your usage cycle.
You always have an option of selling it yourself for about the loss of the restocking fee.

In honor of this rumor, I've changed my sig.
So, you plan of keeping this new sig for awhile, right?
my MBP 17" 2.8 core 2 duo will be fine for me for at least another year....
And my 2.33Gz C2D won't. What's your point?

At least until the next cycle after this one.
Anyone else thing the Macbook AIR is toast?

I want the Macbook Air updated with a mini display port....yes,yes,yes, give it to me...
Since October 2008.
Or was that tongue in cheek?

Personally I think it should have a trademark symbol? instead of the exclamation point.

The refresh cycle isn't mimicking last years.
And Macbook/Macbook Pros...
Don't worry, they'll be here soon. Godot's bringing them with him.
LOL It is starting to feel that way.
